New Guy here, don't hate me cause I'm different

Hey guys wanted to introduce myself. Names Derek, been a lurker here for several years. Finally got around to doing the AWD swap on my truck, so I figured I would join up. Some of you might know my from V8S10.org and Lateral-G.net.
My current project is a 1991 S10 Blazer 4X4. Yeah I know it isn't a SyTy, but she's my baby and my goal is to make her run with the big dogs, IE Typhoons.
Currently the body is off the frame and we are in prep for paint. Once we complete all the body work, the frame is getting painted, RPM front suspension, and a custom 4-link for the back. She isn't going to be all show, as we plan on entering her in some local autocross tourneys at either Route 66 or Autobahn in Joliet. I already know that there is a TON great info here, hopefully I can contribute, as well as get some of my random ass questions answered. Cheers guys, and I will post pics as soon as I can!

Re: New Guy here, don't hate me cause I'm different

@MikeRenz: currently we are looking at building a low buck 383 to push roughly 425 - 450 HP and around the same TQ. My brother's father in Law (got that?) owns a trans shop, so I am having him rebuild the 700-R4. I am still looking for a cheap/complete LQ9 with a 4L80-E or a 5.3/5.7
For the drive train we picked apart a 1994 Bravada for the 4472 transfer case, and the front axle. but I have yet to tear into the xfer case. It was a high milage (145k) truck, so I'm a little worried.

Side Note: Out of curiosity, did the 2nd gen Bravada's use the same front axle and transfer case? It would be nice to have some newer options if my parts are crap.

I am going to look at a 2002 S10 rear this weekend. It's an 8.5" 10 bolt with disc brakes, gotta love local U-Pull-its, problem is I don't know if it was out of a 2WD or a 4x4. I am sticking with the 3.42 gears, as I want something with some semblance of descent range and MPG on the highway.

Honestly, most of the drive train is either still in parts or on paper, as we have been spending most of the time taking care of all the body work. This truck had a lot of cancer in the rear thanks to the garbage fender flares and the tailgate mounted spare tire rack.

@Daron: Damn man, don't I get a little time to get some decent pictures together?

They are not the same but they will bolt in if you use everything from a 2nd gen.

Welcome, sounds like you have a nice project there. There are a couple of guys that autocross their Typhoons and a Syclone as well, if I recall correctly. You would have to search for them. I have 2 questions for you if you have the time to answer them.

1. Why did you start with "don't hate me cause I'm different" ?

2. Is this forum seen as bad ? Just wondering.

@ Fighting5thSVT: Off 159th between 80th and 84th.

@SY2455: the whole "don't hate" thing was just sarcasm. As far as I know this board doesn't have a bad reputation, but then again Trolls can be found anywhere. I really don't expect a "you drive a Blazer, GTFO!" type response from anyone.
