Hello all, new guy here. I`m here to find out more info on 4.3 cranks.
I can`t contribute anything towards turbo chargers as I`ve never delt with them, I`ve always built natural asperated engines. Been working on cars since I was a kid.
I have vast respect for sy/ty`s, I used to watch them eat corvettes at the drag strip.
I`ve also been a member of the hot rodders bulletin board since 2002.
I have a 4.3 That I plan to build and make over 300 horses naturally asperated, I need to find out how much power can the stock crank handle? I`ve been told find a crank out of a Z engine and have it magnafluxed, then if it`s crack free have it shot peened. I know you guys here really make some power with your 4.3`s so I thought it would be best if I asked the guys that deal with 4.3`s on a regular basis. My 92 Silverado has a 4.3 that I rebuilt and added a lot of performance pieces to and I`m impressed with it even so it`s a TBI.
The next 4.3 build will be going into a 1989 S10 Blazer 4x4 that I plan to mud race. So if anyone can tell me what I need to do in order to get the crank to hold up at higher power levels I`m greatly appreciative. Thanks.
