hey guys, just got done making these engine tiedowns.
Let me know what you think.
I went with full cnc'd 6061-T6 with clear anodizing to .010", full locking bolts, stainless hardware etc.

old steel design(showing how it mounts up)

I'm planning on putting a post on the for sale section soon, just wanted to gauge some interest in these.

what is the purpose? i have never seen them before. is it to keep the motor from rotating too much?

Keeps it from braking motor mounts.
( after changing a mount you never want to do it again)

instead of making a metal brace, why don't you just put in solid motor mounts?

Looks great! I'd buy one, but I'd probably replace the aluminum turnbuckle with a steel one, and would probably close up and spot weld the opening shut on the lower turnbuckle mount....

Re: NEW Engine Tiedown's/ Torque-strap's

if you wonder how much stock mounts make the engine move, open your hood and brake boost about 10psi if you can hold it and watch how high the engine rises. This brakes upper rad hoses.

This controls the engine movement, but can be adjusted for a setting of tight or even preloading the engine down.
Soild mounts are a good option but with the intensive labor and conversion cost, this is a better option in my opinion. For a street driven truck, I would not reccommend solid mounts due to vibrations through the chassis and possbility of false knock during tuning.

Ive ran my tiedown for 4-5 years now and have had no problems on strength with the alum turnbukle, and the stainless eye end. If i went to a steel buckle it would look bad, and im going for a nicer/stock appearing product. I assure you it will hold your enigne with out breaking. It holds 22psi boosting on the brakes no problem. the moment force is the best ratio coming off the alt bracket so it only makes sense to use this in aid of stock mounts.

thanks guys

Looks good and i maybe up for one of the brackets (i like the steel turn buckle idea)

But i would think the chain would lead to more false knocks than solid mount :dunno:

ive never seen that kind before, only the ratchet kind. how do you tighten it, twist the center part? or is there room to tighten the bolt on the top?

i have one and i think its well worth the money, it greatly controls the engine flex

Yeah trun the middle 1 bold is left handed thread so it tightens both bolts

Re: NEW Engine Tiedown's/ Torque-strap's

Ive had one of nallj92's old tie downs for over a year and it works great, yea you just twist the center part to tighten it up, I have mine pretty tight with just a little play in the chain and have never had any false knock.

Does the bolt thread into the altenator bracket or can I put a nut on the other end? I think my threads are stripped out....

Also, after you tighten the turn buckle, doesn't it loosen up on you? The one I have now... seems I am always tightening the damn thing...

Interested as well.

I had one with S-hooks and constantly tightening it, I was slowly bending and straightening out the S-hooks.

I'll give it a try and do modding if I think it's necessary... looks like a nice part - I'll probably add a nut to each turnbuckle shank to lock the threads into the turnbuckle... PM me with payment info and I can paypal today.

Thanks,
Rob

just put a nut on the hook after the turnbuckle to lock it down. these things work great.
