New Engine Tie-Down(from local hardware store)

Hey Guys,

While getting ready to install the new turbo and downpipe figured i would make a better engine tie-down. I did have old reliable ratechet strap( which always stretched out)

Here Some Picutres!

why don't you just go the solid motor mount route?

No plans on ripping the motor out right now. So just taking precautions to keep the urethane steel mounts in there for right now.

Just installed new motor in November and so far so good just didn't like the look of the tie-down strap. This looks alot nicer and more practical.

Thanks Ralph

looks sweet, its gotta work good

Unless it causes false knock. :(

Also, looks like right now that lower eye bolt is not completely straight. I would be worried that it would get torqued straight and then the adjustment rod might come in contact with the header. It doesn't look like you have too much clearance right now so it wouldn't take too much to cause interference with that header and you might be cracking welds.

Agreed. Start making enough power to bend the eye bolts and the rod is gonna shove on the headers under load...cracked header welds.

Also is there interference with the nut and upper control arm?

Hey Guys,

The eye-bolts are 2500 Lb. Rated, The removable link has about 1/4 inch between header contact. I can turn the tunbuckle to make clear more just the way i took the picutres. I just think this a bit cleaner looking than a ratchet strap and also stronger. I may just weld a steel eye hook to the chassis if this casues any problems. The A-arm has clearance i got a flat nut which is not as thick and ground down the bolt to just be long enough for the nut to go on the threads.

The best DIY tiedown I've seen to date was on here. It looked decently solid. No chain or anything. I've been looking for another pic of it since forever, but I don't remember whose truck it was on.

I just ran into a guy here in So Cal, that is going to hook me up with a strap that he fabbed up, and sold to a bunch of guys here for $50.00 drips a pop. I'll take pics of it, and post it, if someone, once again, will tell me how to post pics.

And this is a valid tempory fix for a broken motor mount?

This is actually a more permanent fix for those w/high HP SyTy trucks that want to run stock mounts for decreased vibration yet don't like replacing them every few months (with good reason) as these trucks with minor mods will destroy motor mounts... the driver side specifically. This will hold the engine solid and keep from tweaking the motor mount on that driver side as the engine has a tendency to want to torque upward as it rotates in place under power.
