Re: New chip update

can I interject here...?

I bought a PROMinator from Bill Calcagno from the Third Gen.org site and I am optimistic that when I finally get my 3 Bar MAP and the AFPR and WBO2 installed that this chip is a serious leap forward.

It is an EEPROM chip with built in burning hardware meaning that you don't need to faff around with removing the chips and burning and replacing which is incredibly time comsuming. I plan on having a 232 socket in the glove box that goes straight to my laptop.

It copes with the 1227749 chip which someone mentioned es different from the stock GN one (What does GN stand for anyway? Dumb brit question I know :D)

It also supports multiple .bin files for different tuning situations. If that is the case, then surely this new #59 code will work in there. I plan on running Mild, Medium and Caliente ( I liked that :) ) for both pump gas and for LPG / propane (to be installed later).

If this is compatibvle then it negates the need to purchase all the hardware for burning chips that a lot of people still seem to have.

It is also programmeable in realtime - while the engine is running so you can see an instant effect on tunes.

I'm not trying to sell it as I am sure there are more experienced people here but if someone that IS more experienced cared to take a look, then I think we would have a quantum leap ahead in tuning.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Prominator, Ostrich, xtronics Romulator... all do the same thing. All are supported by tunerpro. Romulator is a bit less realtime than the other two, but still useful.

Re: New chip update

Ive purchased all the parts listed on the code 59 site for tuning my Syclone. Im going to a try it even though iim pretty good with the big stuff 3 im using in my Typhoon. I have not had time to install all the hardware . I did download tuner pro and register. I see there are 2 USB cables that will be used: One for the datalogger and another to hook up to the Ostrich 2.0. Is it possiable to datalog a stock SY-TY with the Tunerpro and just the ALD and datalogger box pictured here. Just curious??/

I don't have that exact setup, Frank, but I'm sure you can. You're getting an aldl stream from the ECM and TunerProRT has its resident logger built-in..... should be able to log with DataMaster as well with that cable. My laptop only has one USB but I'm pretty sure you can datalog with TPRT while using Ostrich, as long as your laptop has two USB ports... Jeff, Dig, or Paul will probably confirm for you.

Re: New chip update

The it will work is you have to have one cable going to your ALDL port, htat is for dataloggin. The your other cable goes to the Ostrich, which then has a ribbon going to the G1 adapter for the ECM. You can always use Tuner Pro as a data logger. I prefer to log with Data Master unless Im doing small stuff while I am driving. But if I need to spot something that the eye is just not capable of, I open DM then make the necassary changes in TP.

Re: New chip update

Yes cable you have pictured is the ALDL or engine information. Ostrich holds the calibration data.

So you will need laptop with 2 usb. Personally I have not opened or used datamaster in several years now just tunerpro as it will do everything.
