Yeah with no chip (no ostrich) I think it would be read as limp mode. You probably got a check engine light, possibly blinking fast as well.
As for a better bin, try some editing yourself. I would start with some fuel and or timing tables. If you have access to a wide band O2 sensor now is the time to use it. Take a look at your boost tables and add some boost to the lower end, where it isnt 14.7 already and see if that picks up the bottom end a lttile. Just be cautious adding timing or boost. Without a wide band GO SLOW. Datalog after changes and look for knock and timing retard. If you see any more than 3 degrees of retard- fix that first before proceeding. You may more retard at shift changes, which seems normal for these trucks. Just dont let it become severe in those circumstances. Have fun, go slow and take notes. Try not to make more than 1 or 2 changes at a time or it will get hard to determine trends.
