New 2-gauge pod in the cup holder pics

I am making a 2 gauge pod that fits in the cup holder area since i cant stand pillar pods. I know kenne bell used to make a big 4 gauge holder with rocker switches in it , but from the pics that Ive seen of one installed they looked like an eyesore to me . My camera battery is charging now so i can take some pics .

It holds 2 gauges at about a 45* angle with each one staged behind the other , not side by side .Also viewing of the gauges is straight back . I am real happy with how its going so far and was thinking of making a mold off it so i could reproduce more . I have been looking for the correct grey so it matches the center console . I found 2 different ones but will have to see the shades on and installed before i decide. Maybe a poll of what looks best if enough of you show interest. For 59 plus shipping, would there be any ? Pending pics Im sure will be the normal response , but i figured i would throw it out there .

This is great....I was thinking of doing the same thing. So yea....I'd definitely buy one. And I'd pay more for a 4 gauge as well. I'd like both.....let me know if you're interested in diong the 4 gauge one. No switches though.

Here is the first grey .The other actually looks lighter and prolly wont work , but you get the idea . I didnt want to drill the gauge holes yet if I am going to make a mold , it will be easier to make if the holes arent in my way . You can see it doesnt stick up real high and fits tight in the console recess . Double sided tape will hold it down nice . I honestly dont think a four gauge pod is something I could make cost effective . It would be larger at the top then taper back into the cupholders and that would take at least a 2 part mold . I cant really compete with a mass produced injection molded composite pillar pod as why it may seem higher priced than the norm . I hope everyone likes it , i had 2 more gauges that i couldnt figure out what to do with .

What grey do you think would look the best , either the side of the console or the darker from the cupholder area ?

I think the darker from the cup holder area would look sweet.

Interesting project

! I don't know why GM even bothered putting those stupid cup holders up there since they're worthless. I use mine to hold change and candy in and sometimes they don't even work very good for even that

. Being that the interiors in these trucks is dark, a darker color plastic would be better IMO. Since a lighter color attracts attention. Have you looked into ABS and HIPS? They have some dark colors in those. However the $64,000 question is how are you going to make these if you decide to? Are they going to be thermoformed?

What i thought of doing was just wet layup epoxy fiberglass parts and mold . Then paint to desired color after that . I actually am leaving for s.carolina today and will be in kentucky for a few days around wed so I wont be back here until at least next weekend .My grandpa isnt doin so well so the fam is all getting together this week up north . Hopefully hes not as bad as we think he may be .Kinda shitty :-(

Anyone with suggestions or wants can just post them up and i'll get back with you then , thanks .

Mr Harmon your pod is ready .

My a.d.d. must be worse than i thought , its already been over a year since i last touched these . White gelcoat was all i had left . I plan a dark grey when i buy some more gelcoat .

For those that mentioned a four gauge pod last year, honestly , i couldnt make them cheap enough to sell . Im going to throw up a gp thread if you come across this and want one , so fear not , you too can get in on this .:D
Please forgive the crappy cell phone pics , my wife refuses to let me get an iphone

I have a hideous 4 pod with switches from Kenne bell. Its great to strore or backup other guages but forget looking down at WOT. I could get rid of it but I need it. It does good to make sure everything is good between runs. The only thing I look at during WOT is the pillar pod AFR and the boost guage on the boost controller just below it. I am scared to look down. You could do Oil, fuel, alternator, etc safley. Probably the only one with 3 boost guages. Stuff happens too fast. Just my 2 cents.

Heres a few pics before I bought the truck as a reference.
