Need pic.....

I'm wondering if anyone has a picture of the location (amount of gap) between the bump stop and control arm? Like if the SY/TY is on the ground and you turn the wheel, you can see in there at the bump stop. Perferrably a TY because of weight differences, but it might not matter. TIA

Hmmm....does anyone know how much gap is supposed to be between there stock? I'm pretty sure my TY isn't lowered and it's ON THE BUMP STOP!!! LOL

Re: Need pic.....

Mine is real close on my sy. I was looking at the stop and it looks like I hit it all the time. If I had to guess i would say about 2 inches away but its beat up. My truck is still stock height I guess.

Re: Need pic.....

I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's stock ride height yet I'm on the bump stops? Perhaps bad shocks? They're the bilstein HD and look to be ok. My bump stops look brand new still. Weird.

Re: Need pic.....

Just searched and found that the front stock height from the ground to the bottom of the arch is 28" plus or minus 1/2". Mine measures about 28 and 1/2" on both sides!?!?! Which is the stock height. I don't know what could cause this. At full lock my tires hit something too. HMMM

Re: Need pic.....

If I remember right my Ty would ride on the bump stops but I had lowered it 1" in the front.. I learned that the stock bump stops are actually a bit taller than they need to be.. I tried cutting them(as seen in the pic) but that yeilded horrible results when the A arm was pushed up into the stop. It was very abrupt.. So I tried the Poly stops in the pic($8 from A&A auto parts) and they worked great. I did need to install 2 washers with the poly stop to prevent the tire from coming up too far and making contact with the cladding..

The polly stops provided a much more gracefull stop and the added suspension travel is nice too.. I did this with KYB monomax shocks and I never had an issue with the shocks or anything else being over-compressed..

Re: Need pic.....

here is a pic of mine. Its parked on a slight slope. This side is down about 1/4 more then other side. If my stop was in one peice it probably would be touching.

Hey hey hey...lol...easy now. Or maybe because mine was on the east coast until like 2000/2001. That will all change when my coilover kit goes on  Everytime I work on an area I make sure its coated/sanded when I get done. Eventually everything will be good...These things take time ;)

Re: Need pic.....

I just paint the dirt black. Mine was in nevada for most its life. No rust but There was sand when I removed the inner fender.?
Yes I have to clean it. But not bad for 95k. The driver side is better. I cleaned it when I did the joints and axel. I have the passanger axel but to lazy to do it.

Haha, I hear ya. Does look pretty good for 95k. Mine was pretty dirty, just cleaned it up and painted it when I did the coilovers. That was a good excuse to do it.
