Need opinions on this Typhoon (purchase)

Hello, I'm new to this board (I own an f-body and I've had a few turbo buicks), but I wanted your input on something.

I looked at a 93 Typhoon, 123k miles, black/black. The paint needs to be buffed, and there is a good scratch in the R/R quarter panel, but other than that there are no dents, and there is absolutely no rust anywhere. Bottoms of doors and tailgate are spotless, and the floors aren't rusty either. The interior is very nice and clean.

Oil/trans fluid looks good, and it started up with no noises. Looking underneath, it doesn't seem there are any major leaks.

I test drove it, and the trans shifts nice, and the engine runs good, but it only makes about 8psi of boost (not very fast at WOT).

They were asking 9,000. They called me this morning to say they would take my offer of 7,500.

Do you guys think this truck is worth it? Thanks!

consider the 500 buck you got off money to repair and freshen your ty
good luck

or even the $1500

Yes, you do have some issues to work through. As it always gets said...look to your left and read the "FAQ" and SyTy readme in the toolbar. Work through the more proable causes first like ignition.

Yes BW, it is me (Jim). ;)

I was planning on turning to you for some advice if I bought it.

I don't think there is anything done to it (looks bone stock).

I'm more interested in what I can do to it. ;)

yeah, letme know. more then welcome to show you the little tricks on these. ignitions are total pricks on these, Brian green also on mfba is the chip guy for these, and knows a little on them too, lives over in carol stream. we got all the books on how to fix whatever, and datamaster, wide bands, and so on and so on and so on. its like what u have for camaro parts i'm sure ;)

first off, stock boost gauge is electric signal, so you know its going to be wacky. throw a real gauge on it, but first, change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and fuel filter. order a warlboro, order a 3 bar map sensor, and we'll get that truck moving. plus a lot of little tricks i can show you, or if you want me to go with you when u pick it up or look at it again letme know.

Well, I just picked it up. Seems like it's running out of fuel at WOT, so I'm bringing it to work to install a walbro intank pump and change the fuel filter/tune-up stuff. ;)

Well, tonight I installed a walbro 255lph intank pump, replaced the plugs/wires/cap/rotor/fuel filter, and found out I have a bad wastegate solenoid.

After I installed the walbro pump, the truck was running strange so I checked the fuel pressure.

It was 105psi at idle with the line on. I removed the return line from the regulator and saw 95psi with just turning the key on, and only a few drips of fuel from the regulator.

So, looks like I'll replace the regulator and go from there.
