I have a 93 ty with 30,000 miles .... compleatly stock

I notice some hesitation in 2nd and 3rd mostly.... when it hesitates the tach jumps all over and sounds like it is pinging after boost builds. I just put new plugs and wires in. I am running premimum gas. any ideas what could be causing this

Check the condition for your ignition coil. How to here. Beyond that, just because it was just replaced/new part, doesn't rule it out with these trucks...

were the cap & rotor changed?
what is the condition of the ignition module?
how is your charging/battery system?
any vacuum leaks?
what brand plugs/wires?

this probably isnt it but.....check your firing order to make sure its correct. I know usually you can tell right off the bat when you start the truck but its a thought. and like quick storm said check the vac lines in case you may have broke/disconnected one while changing plugs/wires

cap and rotor were changed. its a fairly new battery (cranks fast on start up). will check for vacuum leaks. Plugs Denso Platinums .... wires Duralast.

also is it normal for the stock tach to jump around like this?

Re: need help.... misfiring

ok I replaced the ignition coil and I am still getting a misfire..... I think it is a misfire .... the problem is that it is very sparatic.... sometimes when you step on it it will take off fine ... other times you can step on in and it will bog for a couple seconds and make a popping noise.

this is a stock TY with 30K on it ... I have replaced plugs wires distributer cap ingnition coil... what else is there .... fuel filter?? clogged cat?? could either of those cause this behavior??

Re: need help.... misfiring

Have you pulled the plugs and looked at them. So many things could cause a misfire.

Re: need help.... misfiring

change your plugs, wires, cap/rotor and fuel filter.

pretty cheap and easy to do.. most likely one of these will fix your problem. If not (it was probably time anyways), then you'll have to hook up some sort of scantool to monitor fuel pressure, voltage etc and see whats going on.

Re: need help.... misfiring

Are #1 and #6 plug wires straight boots? Is your timing set correctly? Try Ac Delco CR43TS, CR42TS or NGKUR5 or UR6 spark plugs. Make sure your plug wires arent touching any thing metal. Check your IC pump as well.

we have best luck with ac delco and ngk plugs. taylor wires are the recommended replacement.

I usually used denso or ngk plugs but autozone didn't have them ... where do you buy the taylor wires?

Hitting the overboost cutoff?

Check your WG rod to make sure it moves ok, and that the hoses are all intact.
