Fom my standpoint as somoen who been to a few other meets, it would have been nice to have a bigger hotel parking lot (too many SyTy to fit with the other guest parking) and some sort of Sunday morning good bye.

I thought BG was a great location (not just because it was so close to me). I thought the Vette museum was awesome. Beech Bend's covered bleachers were nice and the track is usually in better condition. Having everything close was a big plus. I do think we need to remember to factor the kid’s school schedules in the future.

I will take total responsibility for the limited hotel parking. If we return to BG I will fix the problem next time.
On the other hand, the hotel did have another parking lot across the street and we could've moved all of the trailers over there and that would’ve probably cleared some more space.

Yeah, Pope mentioned that to me on Thursday. In hindsight, we would've moved our truck/trailer over and just kept the Syclone in the immediate lot. 10-12 spots got occupied by non-SyTys, so remedying that could prove to be enough to solve the parking.

Bowling Green FTW! The hotel staff was awsome.. I even remember seeing some of them wearin nats shirts and a couple taking a few shots.

The parking lot was a little disorganized at first but it sorted itself out after renz's straighten up speech.

We had a great time and look forward to the next one....

When I spotted that hotel before nats and did the voting I am fairly sure I mentioned that as a possible gotcha and trailers, etc would need to be parked in the other lot. I know a few people were concerned about doing that prior to the event but I think once people saw the layout it was not as bad or have concerns.

There is an advantage to taking up 80% of the hotels rooms for the weekend -vs- only occupying 10%. We have a whole lot more say if another guest should complain.

It has been suggested to move it across street to holiday inn which does have a bigger parking lot and more rooms.

So far I have not heard anybody say NOT to go back to BG, if someone does I would be curious as to why/reasons, etc.

We just need to take over the other 10% of the rooms and the problem is solved.

I agree 110% and I suspect we can do that next time if Jenna is still there.

Did anybody have any room issues?

I know at shindig tiolets didn't flush, lots of issues aside from getting kicked out basically.

Jenna put on a t-shirt and ate with us, no problems. I didn't get to give her a boost launch like requested never heard back.

Yeah...the bed and pillows were TOO comfortable!!!! :rotf:

Disappointed there wasn't a "group" photo of all the trucks. Organizers were running around and I should have taken the initiative to make it happen...but I just assumed it was "in the plans." This is one of the few major events where a photo of all 60+ trucks together does not exist. :(

edit: Also, GMHTP (or some Truck magazine) should have been there. I wrote Scott numerous times and with plenty of advance. F them for not showing up.

I parked my truck and trailer in the grass with a lot of the others. There was plenty of room over there. I also stayed at the Holiday Inn, (didn't register before driving up). The rooms in that place were huge. There was also a massive parking lot in front of the Convention center to the right of the Hotel.

I wanted the assembly plant our much more than the museum tour. The problem was that the Plant is on a 2-week on, 2-week off schedule right now. I tried to get a hold of them during a 2-week off period, and had no idea what was up. I then talked to the NCM and they were more than helpful, and informed me of the plant problems. I was finally did get to talk to the plant and we couldn't have pulled any vehicles indoors like we could at the NCM - which was part of the reason i wanted to do it at all - to make it special/unique. My biggest concern was that the plant would just shut down when we were scheduled to be there and kinda ruin our entire afternoon. So we decided to book the NCM and be safe.

Also, originally, we were hoping to have marlboros, ppg, syborg, saudi sy, and other trucks that ended up inside anyway. The ones that didn't show is why we asked a few trucks on the spot to pull indoor - which i figured would be a nice surprise for a select few - DaveP included

As far as the track tech goes, I headed up to the tower when I first got there. Clay, the announcer asked me about tech and I mentioned that Dunc was doing it for us and putting numbers on the trucks.

From there, he radio'd his guys and just said to continue doing our "tech" with out cards and just sign the standard waiver form. They didnt care about opening up hoods, safety checks, etc. Clay just told me to have fun and we pretty much can do what we please.

If you guys didnt notice, there were plenty of 12 sec passes with passengers, open windows, people in shorts, no helmets, etc and other safety features overlooked. Hell...Jabberwalk even took a pass with his truck, and being as flawless as it is, we all know that it wouldnt pass real tech

Tech was not a problem I tried to explain this to everybody before. At the same time I don't want people to think we were not being safe or being just plain stupid.

Add in them letting us do autocross event I doubt you can find a similar track experience.

Ditto. No other facility is gonna be that flexible with us. Even when our organized group runs our regional autocross, they have to meet a TON of requirements (safety, noise, insurance, etc...) to even run. None of that was required of us. They didn't even inspect the AutoX layout prior to us running.

And, like Jeff said, there was no lack of safety (Dobrick and I looked over the trucks as they entered the AutoX), but them letting us control that aspect of the racing was just awesome.

I agree with DaveP on having name tag for the trucks along with the owners. along with a name on the truck there needs to be what classes he or she will be participating in. i had already voted and didn't put anyone down for best stereo cause i didn't know how this was gonna be done or who had a stereo system that was gonna compete for that. i'm a newb aswell to what the motley driver or what ever it's called. just like the detail king is that for attention to detail onhow the truck was assembled or cleanliness? i would think the best of show would have that nailed down.

My next suggestion is maybe have the holiday inn across the street as the host hotel. They had a much larger parking lot and some of it was not open due to constuction. one

When i arrived wed evening a tad after 6pm i was told by the hotel that trailer parking would be in the rear of the building. well it was a major pain to get back there and not trying to take up two spots doing it. but i do understand that when i person trialers a truck there it takes 3 parking spaces to accomodate them. unless the truck stays on the trailer.

I really didn't care to take my truck and trailer to another lot and leave it where there was gonna be be little traffic there. I'm sure some of the others feel the same way.

BTW there is a back way to get to the race track take I-65 north and get off at exit 26 and that road will bring to out to the intersection @ the railroad tracks/bridge turn right and follow the two lane road into the track. I guess nobody followed me when i left the track or when i went to the track twice in the same day.

But i wll say it again and again

Guy thanks for all the effort you put into this nats event it turned out great i had a super time. Renz it's over you can breath now lol

I took advantage of this and did two hot laps with my son in the Ty he wore the helmet.
He would have never been able to do this at my local track.

Me too Wade.... it was so nice to not have to put on a helmet and cruise down the track with the windows fully open. I wore shorts the whole time and *almost* took a pass with no shirt on...but figured Id at least be somewhat "safe". :rotf:
