Re: Nats Truck Count & Demographics
I am a newbie to nats, so I can tell you from that perspective that Bowling Green had a lot to offer. I came from PA. I would have driven cross country to go to a meet, but having towed to BG, I probably wouldn't tow again unless my truck was a lot more wild than it is. Bowling green helped seal the deal for me because my copilot owns a corvette, so the museum and the possibility of a tour of the plant is what interested him. The track was a huge draw to me as well. The ability to autocross and drag race with little or no oversight is huge. I am an avid autocrosser (if that is a word) in my subaru, so having the area to have our own autocross course was awesome. I have been to events that I spent 6 to 8 hours in order to run 4 less than a minute runs. If this event was held much farther out west, I would be less likely to show up, but only because of the total amount of time involved. Nats 11 was a four day vacation for me, of which 28 hours were spent in transit. More than 5 or 6 hours farther west, and I would probably want the driving to span two days rather than all in one day.
In the future if the site was to be moved, I would suggest trying to find a location that includes something like the Corvette museum. The only things that jump right out would be the Peterson museum and the Woodward dream cruise. Well that is the end of my rambling post regarding Nats 11. I am already looking forward to Nats 12.
