Re: NATS location

I don't mind Chicago as a location, but there would have to be a better venue.
(ie, like somebody with a building, or a hotel that had a semi-secluded area to gather)

Colorado would be cool, but it would definitely be a one-year thing. A drive uphill to Estes would be cool.

Bowling Green =Hot. The track is hot in the spring, when the Buick guys are there.
It's a dang nice venue, though.

I like KC as much as the next guy, but I would like to see a bit more of the country.

Not a bad idea but when people toss out locations they need to keep in mind the availablity of the track and other things.

Can you get a track rental at a decent price in Indy?

We have 3 tracks here that would work in chicago area. GLD, which is what was used last time

U.S. 41 which cost $2200 for a rental, but you need to do the prep yourself.

Cordova (a bit far) but only $1600 and they will prep for you.

Then you have the chicago street racing scene, which certain members who lost some money last time can attest is decent.

You have great america, gurnee mills, navy pier, michigan avenue and the list goes on and on.

Just food for thought. Either way it has to be midwest to get the best turnout and nothing is going to change that. It just is how it is.

:D Can I vote? Because the obvious choice isnt on the list
there is no need to have 2 large events in MI. And Homecoming isn't the same event as NATS and should not be combined. So yes you can vote. Unless you were implying somethin else?

Yeah right. The weekend Nats is usually on is the weekend after US Nationals. There is usually a bracket race that weekend. Could possibly see if they can hold some time between rounds to let the syty people make some runs. Testing there starts in March. I can ask next time I'm out there.

That will only lead to sitting in a staging lane for 3 hours to make MAYBE 2 pass'.

Is there any other track? U.S. 41 I mentioned it technically in Indiana, in Morocco

I don't know Dig I think Fargo is perfect. Cheap hotels, plenty of open area, the track in Sabin which if you follow direction only takes 5 mins.

Plus there would be the draw of your truck running by 09? And a short drive for the Canadians.

Some food for thought

Re: NATS location

I have offered to help if it is in Chicago.

PM me and let me know what you find out about GLD. I have a source I can talk to about it but really would prefer to steer clear of him unless it is a must.

The more I think about it the more I lean towards U.S. 41. Granted it is in the middle of nowhere. BUt you can get the track VERY cheap and you can get it for multiple days and crash at the track and just party there.

www.mfba.org has done it for years with their Mayhem in Morocco event.

Re: NATS location

you do realize that the hot rod power tour, is gonna be in madison wi for the last TWO days of the trip?

could hold nats close, and hook the two together, thereby driveing the cost down for the strip rental....

just food for thought.

again...everyone stop generalizing and saying things like "nats is usually" this or that....there is no such thing as usually. There is only "used to". Stop thinking so far inside the box people

agreed. Renz is head of the committee - that's already so far out of the box, i don't even think you can see it anymore.

Good job so far though, Renz. There's already been more discussion about a Nats than in the 4 years I've been a SyTy.net member.

Re: NATS location

here's an idea....the power tour ends in a different city every year.

why not just use whatever city they have chosen as thier final destination, and setup nats there.

that way there is no more of the "in my back yard" thing. it would be fair that way.

track rental could be tied together that way, driving costs way down.

plus the cars that show up for the long haul are some pretty sweet machines.

alot of "pro touring" cars, not alot of ricers, and usually a more mature crowd that can actually afford to spend a little money should more vendors show up......

Re: NATS location

We'll go anywhere but I'd pefer Bowling green KY. Chicago is ok (US41) it'd be easy to schedule them and they've got no STUPID RULES for Cages ect... Robert can run out the F*)(*&)(& Back door if he want's to! :)
Bowling green is ok with tech but won't let everything slide.. Nice track and great prep.
We'll be where ever it's "happin"

45 on the "scenic tour".

Other than the complete lack of anything interesting, yeah, it'd be great.
All we could muster is the world's largest oil-can pyramid.

689? running? I'm gonna have to invoke the Northland SyTy motto: 'That's crazy talk!'

Round Bacon Nationals, '09.... it does have a ring to it.

Heck, why not BIR? Drag track, big road course, golf, resorts, watersports... even a giant fiberglass ox. Who, really, could ask for more? Track even offers driving instruction in spec cars on the course.

Re: NATS location

The past few years we've barely used the Track.... do we even need to rent it? I have no problem with the small fee when we do.
