That's great, Morgan...thanks for doing this.

Question...I assume we're meeting up "somewhere" in Pennsylvania...like Pittsburgh? I assume the southeast pa crowd is not going UP to State College, rather taking 76 west where we will meet up with others before turning south?

+1 for liking to get there a little earlier. I was definitely planning on leaving before 8:45, more like 6-6:30 departure. If you roll all of the times back 2 hours that gets us there closer to 5pm which would be cool, we could all havea dinner down there.

Morgan - looks great thanks for putting that together but just to let you know my family and i are leaving around 4am. This way the kids will give me a few hours with out saying "ARE WE THERE YET" HAHAHAH

Also going to take my time becasue first time towing a car/truck and i want to make sure i get my family there in one piece. How is everyone going to communicate??? I will have my laptop with wireless card but not going to keep it up all the way. Are we going to post cell numbers??

if you want to post your cell we can compile a list.. I will pm mine to whomever wants it or anyone that wants to put together a list. I'd volunteer but I don't have a lot of room in my pm box. :p

as for towing, since it is your first time, the main thing to look out for is if the trailer is bouncing, this means that the truck on the trailer is either too far forward or too far back on the trailer.. attempt to center the truck over the wheels on the trailer. Trust me you'll know if the truck/trailer is bouncing, you'll feel it pulling the tow vehicle

other than that and making sure the typhoon is tied down properly, you should be fine. As for tieing it down properly, some people say use the frame others say use the differentials to tie it down. I've always used the frame.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan (Part 2)

it's nice when we all have some long distance walkie talkies rather than having to send txt messages or call every cell phone in the group.

+1 for walkie talkies.

As for caravan times...like i said before, earlier is fine with me too. Looks like Vinnie is leaving at 4am, so no reason the rest of the group can't leave an hour earlier than listed also. If we want to take it back by 2 hrs, i'm fine with that also. Whatever the group wants to do, i'm good with. I personally love the caravan, and think it's all part of the fun.

There will be multiple meeting points along the way. We'll probably just play it by ear or meet up en route and just keep in contact with the other groups via phone (someone slows down, the other speeds up) kinda deal. Vinnie will probably meet up with the "Philly Group" somewhere around Carlisle, PA on I-76 where I-81 crosses. Then that group will meet up with the "Renz Posse" around Bedford, PA where I-76 & I-99/220 merge. We will continue down 220 and meet up with the "Maryland Guys" arouns Cumberland, WV when we go from 220 onto I-68. Last but not least, we will finally pick up the "Pittsburgh Peeps" around Uffington, WV at the junction of I-68 & I-79, then we all roll down I-79 together :D

Yeah I know what you mean, but I could only go off of what people put down in their information above, some people put specific times, others just put "morning", so I just tried to make it as close to what the specific times where so I had something solid to base everything off of. Vinnie had put 5am and Renz had put around 10-ish, but with only a 4 hour difference between them, Renz was getting his ass rolling earlier than that, and might even be earlier as it already seems from the replies. But if you wanna leave at 6am vs 9am, that also means Vinnie & myself will need to leave around 2am in order to have a chance of meeting up, so its a pretty difficult act to balance, not to mention guys trailering arent going to be as fast as those who arent, so shaving time off isnt going to be so easy. It's going to be tough, especially with 16 different people meeting up, thats why I wanted to get this posted so everyone can see the might need to be a little more flexible on their departure time.

These are the reasons why Wednesday night is so appealing to me, because there is less traffic, which means for smoother travelling, we would technically have more time to rest and easier time meeting up because groups can just stop at whatever rest area after their intersection point and whoever gets their first just waits till the other group arrives. Basically travelling through the night gives us a much looser time table and we dont need to "cannonball run" down there during the day on Thursday.

Yeah I hear ya on that, bring some ear plugs it might help  Just out of curiosity, would leaving Wed evening be completely out of the question since you have the little ones? Just kinda going off what I said above, the night travelling will probably make things a lot easier on you as well.

As far as communication, I know we have used walkie-talkies in the past, not everyone has them and they arent always the easiest to understand the other person on, but they work. Alternatively, I will also make up a cell phone list that everyone can print out, but I would suggest that everyone PM's me their phone number instead of posting it publicly :2cents:

PM sent.

I believe we have a couple of the little hand held walkie talkies, dont think they are good for any more than a couple miles but ill dig them out.

Im also a possible for Wednesday night. Like Renz said, I think the trip down is a part of the fun so ill do what the majority decides.

Thanks Eric for the towing hints. I have been reading as much as can and hopefully it all works out well.

Let me know what people recommend for the cell numbers. I dont mind posting mine on this thread but others might not want to do that. Let me know what others think would be the easier way to distribute cell numbers.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan (Part 2)

The B&M Ind crew has decided to join the party. Right now there are 4 of us, and a Sy and a Ty... which is subject to change. We are trailering both trucks and might have two tow rigs, and two trailers, or one monster tow rig, and a even bigger trailer. That won't be finalized for another week or two. We are very flexible, so we can just catch up with you guys along the way.

So I don't get yelled at:

First Name : Tom, Dameon, Mike and Tom
Zip Code : 14564
Time/Day : Wed or Thurs (we can be flexible)
Vehicle : Towing a Sy and a Ty

Im putting the phone number list together as I type this, so if you wish to be on it, PM me your Cell # along with your full name (if I dont have it already).

I'm only going to be sending the phone list to those who participate. If ur not gonna share your number, no reason to share everyone elses with you, fair is fair ;)

i was thinking what if we all put a few hours in wed night driving to a certain location and then we could all be at one spot i'll sleep in my truck for that lil bit of time i dont know what u all would think about that n if ne body near me wants to leave way earlier maybe we could make a small caravan?

we aren't going far enough to do that. Plus i'll have my g/f and her son in my Ty...so stopping to sleep really isn't a viable option.

A few people are coming to my house....i'll let them decide if they're up for resting a couple hours and continue on...or sleeping and leaving in the morning. Goodhue...you're about the furthest travelling - whatchu wanna do?

I'm all for that, infact I was gonna crunch the numbers and see how that would pan out also, because Im totally not diggin the 7pm arrival from, or even a 6 or 5pm arrival time.

we aren't going far enough to do that.
maybe YOU arent Mr. 10hr 15min drive, but maybe of us has 12/13/14+ hours of driving to do. You get to sleep in til 8am, Ive already been driving for 3-4 hours. ;)

When is Dave getting to your place? Tues or Wed?

smaug & sharkbait are looking like they could setup their own mini-caravan, since both are leaving Thursday night.

I'll figure out the "normal peoples math" on what a Wed evening departure would yeild in terms of arrival time. There were already 16 people in the caravan, plus the Rochester crew thats now teamed up, plus the chance of running into Minnesoooooooooooooota coming out of Ohio, there could be the option of a Wed night caravan & Thursday morning caravan, without losing the "fun factor", although whoever does get Renz will surely have the most fun :rotf:
