Lookin' good Gary. Infineon opens next week, so keep at it...do you already have the tranny controller, crossmember, adapters, modified shafts, etc.? I say scrap that stock low-amp alternator and go with a 200A Powermaster or similar. Hopefully, Mike can help you with the clearance issue. Regarding the money invested question, I'm right around $37K total investment, last I checked. Still need $1000 tires for my new set of rims and some paint work to make her perfect. Then wait for the stock motor to blow and that'll be another $10K...geesh, we must really love these trucks.

valve covers are off to rpm to get fixed. Picked up a new cs130 140amp alt. For 100$ I cant beat it. George should be done soon and hopefully I get my trans in the next few weeks. All parts are paid for but the new turbo and coating of exhaust parts. Money is tight right now with property taxes comming up.
Jeremy, you going up wednesday?? What time? maybe I can catch a ride with you and do some video recordings? I would like to see you get your 11 and Don get his 12. I guess I can watch the webcam but its not the same.
Thinking of dropping in the engine this weekend and put the exhaust stuff on later. once the engine is in I can do the wireing, some plumbing and the electric fan. That way when my coated stuff comes back I can slap them on along with the trans and be good to go. Right now I am waiting and its fustrating to spend weekends doing nothing as time slips away. I need to feel a boost launch soon

I agree...do what you can without the tranny, exhaust, turbo, etc. Install the motor now, but leave the mounting pads loose so you have room for adjustment when you install the tranny. 140A alternator is better than the stocker and you want plenty of amps for the e-fan, alky injection, trans cooler fan, etc. I still have my stock valve covers in a box if you want them. To wire up your e-fan, you'll need a Bosch relay, fused connector, some heavy gauge wire, heat shrink tubing, and a Bosch wiring diagram I can e-mail you. I wired mine up to come on when the ignition is on and it works perfectly. Coolant temps stay between 170-180F, no matter how hard I beat on it.
No plans to hit the track yet since my truck was breaking up over 20psi when I datalogged with Torco a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure my plug gap is too wide at .032" so I got some new NKG UR6IXs, gapped at .025" and will install them this weekend. I know it wasn't knock because I couldn't get more than 1 degree using Torco, even at 22psi I have a MiniDV camcorder so yeah, that would be cool if you could film us on a Wednesday night. I should be ready in a few weeks. I would be very satisfied with an 11.9 pass...we'll see.

I read that too...or you can wire it up with a switch. I have the Ramchargers dual setup and have them wired up to run constant on low speed. They are quiet and cool very well. I tried several of the expensive variable-speed controllers and they didn't work for $hit. They created noise in the ignition and my tach would flutter and engine bog when the fans spun up. I got sick of messing with them and returned them to Summit and just used the Bosch relay.

Right on man - keep it up! I'm giddy with excitement right now. I've put 5 years of blood, sweat, and $$ into my Syclone and I can now say with confidence that the truck is "dialed in" and running stronger than ever before. I just datalogged for about 20 minutes running 91 octane with Torco mixed in and light alky spray. I can push 23-24.8psi with ZERO knock! This is unbelievable, considering my truck used to be the king of ping and I spent years chasing down the problem The thing is just plain viscious...I don't know how else to describe it. I have no doubt this truck is now into the 11s, and I can't wait to prove it at Infineon. If you have any doubts about Torco, the stuff is really awesome.

Today, I installed new NGK UR6IX plugs gapped at .025" and then took it out with the exact same fuel I was running last time. It felt WAY stronger. At 22psi, it was still breaking up, so I figured WTF, it's got to be too the alky. So I turned it off completely and did another run. Got some audible knock and up to 5 degrees KR, but no break-up So I turned the alky back on but only a 1/2 the rotation it was at before and I hit 24psi with ZERO knock from 0-120mph. It's just brutal, I'm so happy I could crap myself. All the hard work over the years has finally paid off.
Will be running at Infineon Wednesday night drags in a few weeks and bring home some new best times. If anyone wants to see a virtually perfect Datamaster log file, let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.

Gary, the truck was nowhere near this fast when you raced me, if you can believe it. I will e-mail you the DM file. That 4.9 degree KR spike was when I turned off the alky spray. The rest of the file shows 1-2 degrees at most and I hit 24.8psi with ZERO knock. Let me know if there's something I can do to help with your truck.

Yeah man, the stuff really does work...I'm a believer! I pulled my old UR6 plugs this morning and they did have the orange coating on them from the Torco; not sure if the stuff is going to coat the inside of the engine, O2 sensor, cat converter, etc.? Oh well, as long as my truck runs this strong with it, I'll keep using it. 3 weeks would be just awesome. Keep going so we can hit the track together and get some vid footage :tup:
