Re: my small project

heads and gaskets...yes have them. I dont want to pull the motor if I dont have too. I figure with the inner wheel wells off, trans, and heads I should be able to change them easy?? I have access to cherry picker so I can lift up the engine. I just want to do it with as little as work possible. The more I do the more I will spend. like I said if I pull the engine I will want to rebuild it.

Yeah.. this project started out small. a few bolt-ons. Now 12k later I guess its not small anymore.

Re: my small project

just let me know when you want the headbolts. you shouldn't have to pull the bottom end out if you have the heads and transmission off.

Re: my small project

I might need help putting the new heads back on. I just want to make sure I torque them down correctly and the surface is preped right. If I can beg you for help. I can pay for time and gas. It wont be for a few weeks.

Re: my small project

Started my project part 2. If someone would have told me last year I would own a Syclone and have torn it apart 2 times in a year I would have said he was crazy. This tuesday is a year for me owning my syclone. It has come a long way but more is need to be done. As I am ripping it apart I am thinking....Coat the exhaust manifolds and x-over??? ac delete?. abs delete.? what else?

My wife was out with her friends today so I had the kids. I did not do as much as I wanted but got the exhaust out, inner fenders, upper and lower intakes. ac bracket... not bad for 5 hours.

Keeping track of all parts. bagged and labled every bolt and screw.

Autozone has a puller if you need one. Rent it take it back. As for taking the pump off. Its not that hard. I think there are like 4 bolts that hold the bracket on, I forget actually. Not hard though.

Re: my small project

auto zone is 5 min from my house. Witch one do I need?. I dont mind renting one. Thanks q.s. unless you are going to be in the area soon. The covers and lower intakes are lose. They are just sitting on there to keep crap out. The passanger head is ready to be taken off. the driver side needs to have the alt/psp bracket removed and its ready. Then the trans is next.

Q.S. pm sent.

Re: my small project

I will ask. thanks the guy's dad used to have a syclone. he was shocked one day when he saw me driving mine.

BTW I noticed a date on my old lower intake on its underside but my new one does not have a date. both say PAS but my old one has a 11-15-90 date stamped on it?

Re: my small project

rented a puller. I had on my syclone shirt and the guy asked me if the puller was for the sy. Pulled off the PS pulley. WOW that was on there good. I donated a 3/8 ratchet to the cause. Its a crafsman so bact to sears it goes. I had a 2 foot cheater on it and the gears let go. that bracket is off. Now it time to remove the trans and then do the solid mounts. Looks like the ps leak was from the bearing under the pulley. I gues a standard 4.3 pump works?? getting this far was not as bad as I thought. Its the trans that scares me.

q's
1)power steering pump??
2)what do I need for solid mounts and where to buy?
THANKS!

Re: my small project

Power steering pump is standard S-series issue.

Solid mounts you need frame pads that are custom build to our specs from a vendor, and a set of Moroso motor mounts also from a vendor.

You used a cheater bar on a ratching wrench, maybe you should stop and pay me to come down there and help you :rotf:

Re: my small project

I could not find my 1/2 drive ratchet. I had a 10 foot cheater on my 1/2 drive at work once! That pulley did not want to come off. After being on there for 15 years.
As I had said before this is all new to me. My dad used to build race motors and he did my elcamino and 57 chevy motors. My roush was stock except for some easy bolt ons. My friend did my GTP. This is the first time I have done this kind of work. Again thanks to all who I pm and help me out. I ask so many questions because I dont know thew answers or am not 100% sure on things. I am good with tools but the knoweldge is not allways there. Kind of learning as I go here, thanks.
