My signature has changed.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and bought a Ty. On October 10 I caught a red eye flight to Newark and then caught a connecting flight to Albany, NY. Wheels picked me up from the airport in the Sy he had at Nats. That's right I bought 92 Ty 0004. I drove for about 9 hours on Saturday and stayed in Ashland, OH on Saturday night. Left Ashland at 8:30 the next day and arrived at home in Kansas City at 8:00 PM Sunday night. Monday morning I got the car registered; believe it or not the Highway Patrolman who inspected the VIN actually knows a board member here.. small SyTy world after all. After getting the registration I had to drop the truck off at a shop to replace the fuel tank and lines. A dozen New York winters took their toll on this truck. The shop had to order the line from the tank to the filter from Texas. The part arrived today and I picked the truck up after work. I've got a few photos from the trip that I will upload to photobucket.

Thanks, keep your eyes open; in this economy there will be others. Which is actually a tragedy.

Its a tragedy to some and what is it to guys like you and I? who could actually care for enjoy and restore vehicles like these! Like many have said... Everything moves in a cyclicle motion or "ups and downs". Economy or otherwise the SYTY market will be back its just at a low! Which is the time for a first time potential TY owner like myself to get in! Trust me I have a C4 vette. They are actually just starting to see light again after some pretty scarey low resale values. Everything has its time! :D Trust me... The next Fast and the furious movie will come out and every ricer will want a SYTY just like the GN. :rotf:

I didn't notice that your 20, we are pretty much in the same dream here bro. There is a small number of us young dreamers, I don't have ANY friends that would even consider buying a Typhoon/Sy (at least untill I can show them what the big deal is:D) it takes characters of a certain type to find the love for these things, as cheesy as it sounds. This might be why everyone on this forum gets along so well...

Re: My signature has changed.

I guess you can count me in on that. I'm 19 and have been searching for a sy or ty locally ever since my cousin got one back when I was younger. I'm shooting for next year on buying one, hopefully there is one out there that will fit in my budget for next year. This year is possible but I'm going to London in the spring and that is taking up my useable income. I'd have to sell a kidney or lung to get by.

On the topic at hand...Good work scoring a nice ty.

Re: My signature has changed.

There are deals to be had. Just gotta be patient and start a search regiment and be ready to pull the trigger very quickly or your going to get sniped on a deal. I think Powercat will agree with me on this... it does pay off when you stay on top of it.

Adam's right; be persistent with your searching and leave no stone unturned. I've been watching ads daily for the past 4 or 5 years and its amazing some of the obscure places these turn up for sale. I occasionally find them on Autotrader listed as a Sonoma or a Jimmy and the ad runs for months because no SyTy buyers see it only people who want Sonomas/Jimmys and the price is too high for those buyers.
