My 93 ty... just died!

Drove this thing daily for the past two years, then today I started it it ran for a couple minutes then just died. I was idling waiting for it to warm-up.
My first thought was fuel pump-today is a hot day pump has'nt been priming for a while,- when I first start it in the morning I have to turn the key on and let it build pressure, then it starts right up, if I just start cranking it it takes till 3-4 cranks to start.
I checked the schrader valve on engine no pressure with key on or off, has pressure when cranking- ie squrted out the schrader all over, but only during cranking.
I thought it should have pressure always at the schrader?
I put in 3 gallons of gas to see if my gauge had went out or if the pump would cool off and run,trucks still the same.

If you have good pressure while cranking, that's not the problem.

Pull a plug wire and check for spark. I just stick a screwdriver in the spark plug boot and hold the blade about 1/8 inch from a good ground. Have someone crank it and look for a strong spark. Make sure that fuel has evaporated first.

Ya smith, he was the first person I called,lol. right now it has no spark we switched the coil from of his truck, didnt fix it, Ill probally have to try that module next.

No spark = module 90% of time. 5% of time a wire is loose, not connected.

Fuel pressure check valve, injector leaking into cylinder or FPR leaking back to tank or through vacuum line are all likely reasons for your priming problem. Put a gauge on it and watch and note the pressure decay rate. If it is a leaking injector or a FPR leaking through the vacuum line, you will want to catch and fix that asap.

This is exactly what my truck did when the ignition module went out (three times in a 4 month period, less than 1000 miles combined with the three modules). The truck would start and run for about 5 minutes idling or a couple blocks driving and die. Let it sit for a while and it would start again but do the same thing. After blowing 2 Pertronix Flame Thrower modules bought from Summit and 1 cheapie from AutoZone I had to put in in a pinch I put in a NAPA Echlin module and haven't had a module problem in 2 years and 5000 miles of driving. My bet is on the module.
