Mullet Camaro

At the dragstrip Sunday some hillbilly's trailered in a raggedy 83 Z28.It was white/primer and rolling the ultra cool Crager SS rims.
Anyway,I'm sitting beside this LOUD POS in the staging lanes, figuring I'm gonna get smoked since my shiznit is running low 8's,and they trailered this beast in.
While he proceeds to do a narly smoky burnout,I go to the tree and light both the lights.Spool her up and launch on the last amber and this clown is already 3-5 lengths behind. As I watch him fade to about 10 car lengths in my rearview,I'm thinking "Why did they TRAILER that crap here?" As we both pull into the pits, about five mullets come running up to the Camaro hooping and hollering. They were pointing and laughing at Cletus for getting SMOKED by a V6 Blazer.I wish I would have filmed it,it was some funny shit!

lol...that reminds me of my first time at the track, lined up next to this mid/late 80's multi colored/rusty camero with some slicks on it. Thought I was gonna get smoked...he ended up running a 16.8 :D

same thing with me, it was a 87 or so monte ss, did a bad burnout, had fats on the back, died staging and had to push it off. got to give KCIR credit, you see the whole gambit coming through there.

They'd fit right in at the Denton Dragway in Denton, TX. Last time we were there, some mullet hillbilly was driving a loud-ass primer black S-10 with a #3 on the doors. It was trailered to the track, of course. It was also running 9's or 10's in the 1/8th.

It appeared as though the driver was highly intoxicated as well. Wouldn't doubt it...

This reminds me of my first trip back out to the track in Savannah (1/8th mile) last year...........I pull up to the staging lanes and there's this kid right on my butt in a yellow S10. I pull up a little farther and he whips around into the parallel lane and opens the door. I see his buddy laughing a little and he asks me what my truck runs. I told him I've never run it before (ignoring the 20-30 previous runs I had in the truck) and that it feels like it has a low 9 in it. He asks if I'd like to line up, and I point out that (at this point) we're next in line anyway, so we pull ahead. He closes his door, and I can't hear what he and his buddy are saying, but he appears to be laughing and discussing his pending slaughter of me.

We pull up to the box and I get a good look at this POS......house paint yellow (appears to be applied with 3" brush and a roller), tubbed with 10.5 MTs, shift light taped to the dash, unpainted 5" cowl hood, misaligned bumper, etc.....a real POS. However, it sounded ungodly........definitely big cube SBC, and I began to think that I might get mine handed to me. Anywho........I pull up to the light and stage as he does a burnout. I launch and instantly put 4-5 on him, proceeding to absolutely ruin him. I get to the ticket guy and ask for a copy of both runs (they usu. just give you a copy of your run).......I went 7.49 @ 94 and he went 9.87 @ 70.

So, anyway, I pull back to the pits, lock up the truck, and walk up to the track to watch some running. I manage to walk right by Festus and his gang with the S10, and overhear them giving him crap about losing. I hear him say, "Hell, you oughta run that Syclone with your car!".......In response, his buddy says, "Let me finish this 12-pack and I will!".

Running a drunk man isn't my idea of fun/safe racing, so I decided not to run anymore that night.

The same guy came over to my Ty looked under the hood and told his buddy "Yup...i told you it had two turbos...lookie there". I tried to tell him that what he thought was the second turbo was the exhaust side of the turbo. They were RED NECK!

On my way to last year NE Extravaganza, I was stopped for gas station (I was driving my Ty). While I pumping a late 60's camaro pull. It was real nice looking Black Camaro with SS decals. It looked mostly restored nice weather only car, it had loud flowmaster and big meet on the rear tires with traction bars along with the shoe polish drag strip numbers on window. I asked him what he ran at the track, he said 14.8 but he lots of traction problems and he has nitrous tank in the trunk that he was yet to setup. I didn't perceive him to be too smart. I think I said 'oh, you have nice looking car'. He came back with the 14's doesn't that fast but it really moving compared to most vehicle on the road. I was done pump gas and smiled know that his car was ll show and no go. We both went different directions when we left the gas station, but I would have love to end up next to red light with him.

One time I was the track talking to an extreme owner with my Syclone. We were line up together. He had an exhuast, chip and air filter. I asked him what i runs and he said low 16's, not bad for a truck. He mention something about all pickup trucks are slow anyways when compare to cars. After a while he came over and asked me what I hope to run I said I hope to run high 12's. His jaw dropped, he asked me what my mods were best was and I told him a chip and few small things and my best was a 13.1. I told him not all truck are slow, with a big shitting eating grim on my face.

When I was in college, a neighbor (some old dude) across the street from us would paint his POS car with a roller and brush. He'd paint it a different color each month during the warmer months. The best ever was powder blue.

I had pretty good verbal run-ins w/those type people. As long as they can piece together 3 or 4 different cars into 1 and put somekind of loud v-8 in it, that little black truck will have no chance. You race and beat them, their ready to chase you out of the town the whole family is breeding in!
