well i started ripping my motor out on Friday. got the motor out end of the day friday. today i removed my complete AC system and replaced the AC box with a non-ac box, wow that freed up so much room. then i removed the stock abs, hard lines and front abs wiring harness and replaced with hoods abs delete kit, also freed up tons of room, then i removed my stock steering shaft and gearbox, and replaced with the borgenson shaft and zq8 steering box. i removed the old motor mount frame pads and installed the JS frame pads and moroso solid motor mounts (the biggest pain in the ass to do even with the motor out, adjusting the frame pads blow). installed the new motor in the truck (motor is built with 4bolt mains, forged bottom end, 415 cam, vortec heads, etc... see my sig for complete build sheet), installed the edelbrock hi-flow water pump. installed the rpm ss single turbo headers and i'm having fitment problems with the drivers side header hitting the steering shaft. but all in all this is huge progress and i'm looking forward to finsihing on mon/tues of next week. i'm really excited.

sorry, no pics. i have forgot the camera and would rather wrench then stop and take pics. i will take pics after everything is together.

have u replaced the stock steering shaft with a borgeson style unit?

yeah, i have a feeling i'm going to have to loosen the solid motor mount frame pads and move the motor around a bit. this is the only thing holding me back from going forward. anyone have any install problems with the solid mounts.

Re: Moving forward

Re: Moving forward

yep that is your issue, i switched to solids after my headers were on and running, when i finished installing them the header was on the shaft, if u dont want to dimple the header u can slightly shim the motor up on the that side or both sides, to give the added clearance without adversly afftecting anything else, i solved this issues when i installed the new column so i didnt have to go that route

Re: Moving forward

UPDATE

removed both headers from the motor and the motor finally sat in the solid mounts and pads perfectly. i'm going to install the top of the motor, like upper intake, dist, fuel rail, basically everything but the headers, steering shaft and turbo/downpipe. i 'm hoping to wire everything up as well. got alot of nuts and bolts in a box and i kinda forgot where they go, oh well, just have to keep wrenching. it doesn't look like i'm gonna finish it tomorrow, maybe next week.

well i took a few pics of the truck during my downtime. i got the header problem fixed as it wasn't a problem with the headers but rather the borgenson shaft i bought from waller, the u-joints were way to beefy.
