moving alternator and ac compressor...

i did a search but couldn't find anything even close.

has anyone moved their alternator and or ac comp down towards the bottom? i know this might not make sens to and awd/powersteering truck. i was thinking of going no power steering on my rwd ext s10 and moving the alternator and ac condenser down low.

ive moved the alternator down in my two vegas back in the day. it really cleaned up the interior. what do you guys think?

im also looking into an aluminum rad that fits flush in the core support to make the engine compartment more open and cleaner (single GN elec fan)

i really want to keep the ac, and i love having the engine compartment totaly simple/clean.

This probably doesn't help much but on some supercharged 4.3's the alternator is moved down to make room for the headunit (not installed in this pic)

It should be easy enough to fab up a small mounting plate just to hold the alternator. This ditches the factory tensioner setup as well.

Only problem I see with the above picture is that is the engine bay of a mid-late 90's S-Series. Not our body style.

Re: moving alternator and ac compressor...

my s10 is a 95 and it has the same exact set up as the sytys. it has the alternator on the driver side and the ac compressor on the pass side.

another thing i was thing is to lengthen the ac evaporator lines to move the evaporator over to the radiator support. this way clearing up where the DP and turbo is.

isn't that alternator exactly where your turbo is on a syty? i think it would have to be lower and near the exhaust cross over tube?

That pic is of my '03 but I'm guessing that style of bracket could easily work on the other side as well. You could position it much closer to the engine if you didn't have to worry about the blower too, I just thought it may give you some ideas about what kind of mount you could make.
