Re: Motorcycle 60FT times

I got to line up against a "slightly modified" bike at the track by me back in '05. Both the owners were friends and they rode their bikes to the track, they were not trailer queens. You can read about the outcome here.

My old(97) V MAX would put down a 1.67 on a street tire. Usually ran 7.2 in the eighth, never ran in the 10's :squint:

I have a 2006 GSXR750 No extended swingarm or suspension mods and lay down 1.7 60's

Got any timeslips?
That's a hell of a 60ft!!!
Are you saying that is your normal average 60ft times?

Re: Motorcycle 60FT times

I usually run in the 1.6's on my bike with a best of 1.53 -on a street tire. My bike would be capable of 1.4's with a good rider. I have the front suspension strapped and it is extended about 3 inches.

Re: Motorcycle 60FT times

I think a 1.4 would need a really good rider a longer swingarm and a strapped front end. When I ran my box stock busa(2000 modle), I ran a 12.67 @122.56, i eventually got down into the 10.82@129.8 with some really lowly 60 foot times. I let my friend ride it and his track only bike is in the low 8's. We strapped the front end, dropped the tire pressure on the rear ,bumped it up on the front he ran a 9.87 @142.6 with a 1.7 60 foot. Embarressed the heck out of me, but does show what a rider can do. He's also 45 pounds lighter than meand 7 inches shorter.

Good point & his 60 ft times look the norm.

I guess we will see this season........Last yr when I went the 1.53 I left at 6000 rpm and it was on a Shinko "soft" tire. This year I have an "ultra soft" tire and I am going to work up the guts to leave at 9000 rpm like all the other turbo guys. I will post the slip on here as soon as I get a 1.4 since it seems you guys don't think its possible. FYI, my bike traps 125 mph in the 1/8th with my 300lb arse on it.

I have raced them (bikes) & my friends have raced bikes @ LACR.Cars vs bikes.

Heck one year my friend won the whole event Trophy class? (IIRC) on hangover nationals @ LACR .
He got a lot of gift certificates, prizes etc.

BTW, he won the whole event on a 1980 AR50 Kawi.

So, you can emagine the head start he got racing a 10 second car,his bike ran 20 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

After he won the event the owner told him he cannot race that bike anymore (too slow,& too small cc's)
Needs to be 400 CC's min or so?
So the following year he ran his Hondamatic.
That is a 1978 (or so) Honda 400 fourstroke that has two gears.
He got second place, won prizes & gift certs also.
B.T.W. the Hondamatic was slower than his AR50 KAWI :rotf: But,,, it was 400cc's :rotf:

Dont take this the wrong way but thats very foolish !
with a rolling mass of a 4500 lbs car running low 10's at a trap speed of over 140 mph something happens and that car hits you or you hit them your as good as dead ! Theirs a difference between pushing the limit and just being plain dumb and thats a gamble that makes no cents Death Vs. Good story IMO

I am not saying it is smart, but you were thinking tracks do not let this happen, just had to correct you that's all.

I would never race on a bike against a car, it is foolish, but it happens & it happens street racing.

The three or four major tracks in our tri state area doesn't allow this.

Re: Motorcycle 60FT times

90% of all my 60' times on the 2006 gixxer 750 are in the 1.7's on Michelin Pilot Powers slipping the clutch out at 10k rpm. I didnt get the knickname "Holeshot" for no reason at the local street races lol

This year I'm going to lower the bike 1.5-2 inches and strap the front end down and see what happens.

Sounds great!

Care to tell us what your 60 ft times were the very first time you raced at a track w/a stock bike?
Be honest!!!!!!!

Re: Motorcycle 60FT times

I had alot of empty industrial park "practice" with racing the bike before i ever went to the track for the first time. The biggest difference at the track was how much better the bike hooked so I had to adjust my clutch/throttle technique. My first three 60' times were 2.0, 1.9, 1.7.
