I have been reading many posts and also the suggestions for mods on the sportmachines site Has anyone tracked the results from their mods (real before and after results) or has anyone done some serious mods but on a gradual basis keeping track of how each step gained in performance. Anyone done most or all of the mods listed on the sportmachines site. Sounds like a good recipe???

I think the biggest gains with mine from stock 13.4 to almost Stock 12.4 were:
Boost 14-18lbs .4-.5
Tcc lock up .2-.3
Free flowing exhaust (with tuning and gas) .2-.3

My SY still has
stock motor
stock trans
stock turbo
stock Xover tube
stock IC including metal lines

Mods:
Safety
Custom free flowing 3" (no cat)
Custom Dig 18lb chip
Dieting 101

I think you'd be amazed at how some mods don't work well together like A mod is good. B mod is good. A + B mod actually hurt but when you get A + B + C = Whoowee! Sometimes it's like that a necessary evil to get to an endstate.

I went 13.6 stock. Hotwired intercooler and 3in Dynomax glasspack exhaust went 13.3. ATR cold air kit put it at 12.9.

I have only performed two mods at the track to get a 'before and after' comparison.
I opened up the cutout in my downpipe prior to the cat and picked up .2 and 2 mph. I saw that benefit over my 3" exhaust and Catco converter. Also, I removed the spare and tailgate which dropped about 100 pounds off the weight of the truck. I picked up .1 and 1 mph. Sorry those are my only two mods I have done to the truck besides a K&N air filter and hotwired intercooler pump. But I don't have before and after times for those. This year I'm upping the boost to 18psi and adding an auxillary heat exchanger to the intercooler system. I'll post those results. My best ET from last year is in my siganture.

if you want to go with the mods play you have to know from the start how far do you want to go
this will save money and stress

SY732, I see you had a gain of .2-.3 with the converter lock-up. Is that with a stock stall converter? Also, when do you activate the lock-up? Do you just connect pins F and A in the ALDL and let it lock once the trans shifts to 2nd? Thanks.

Yes its the stock stall
I hit the switch after the burnout, So it locks on the 1-2.

BTW with my truck I need 17-18psi to get the lockup gain, any less and she seems to fall off big time on the 1-2

How are you accomplishing the burnout? And what are you using for tires?

Thanks Kris. I will be upping the boost to 18psi this year and I'll definitely be trying the lock-up mod.

I played with the ALDL TCC lock, it works and is noticible. Actually, I noticed it started knocking like crazy, due to the extra load on the motor. It is kinda goofy at low speed/rpm its like driving a stick, the torque convertor when locked up acts like a dry clutch. It makes sense, thats how it should operate, just not at such low speed.

Thx Brad

Hey "SY732", keep your ridiculous comments to yourself or to private/offtopic messages. If you don't want to tell me how you are doing burnouts that is fine, but no need to be an ASS about it.

Ridiculous to you, common sense to others. Thanks for ruining another topic...
