Re: Mis-information given

I was in a pepboys not too long ago, looking for a chilton's/haynes manual. This big guy was working in the back close to the manuals, about 20-24 years old. He asked what the car was, "GMC Syclone" I responded. "Year?" "1991". At this point he had a confused look on his face. "Are you sure it's not the Mercury Cyclone?" He asked. "Oh, right. I forgot the sport truck I have from 1991 is a mercury with a "C" instead of an "S"." Another employee had heard the conversation, and said "Sorry, we only have the S series manuals. They don't cover Syclones. I said thanks to him and left, leaving the first employee with a dumbfounded look and probably a little confused.

Re: Mis-information given

A friend of mine tried to tell me SyTy's came with 400+ hp, twin turbo, all aluminum engines and 92-95 s-series trucks had 300hp CPI engines. The best part was when he showed me the driver's side exhaust manifold on his Blazer and said it had a spot where it disconnects from the factory exhaust so you can "hook up" a syty turbo on it. I finally just started agreeing with him after 20 minutes of arguing got me nowhere.

Where do people come up with this stuff, some of it is so odd it seems they sit down and make a list of things as far from the truth as possible...

Re: Mis-information given

It's not a Syclone... it's a diesel Cutlass. I'm surprised the body style didn't give it away.

It's even worse with my GT...Even when you come across someone who knows abit about sy/ty's they still think my truck is a syclone even though it says "sonoma GT" in 3 places. I did have fun with some guy at a car show one time though. He asked me the usual" whoa, is that a syclone?!?!" I was like "no, this is more rare, it's a Sonoma GT, only about 800 made and they came with 427 big blocks" Then he said "Really? Pop the hood!" I told him my hood latch was broken and my hood wouldn't open...He gave me a funny look...I don't think he bought it...haha.

We can race to see when you take my daughter in your car alone. My daughter tells him, don't do it we will never be on date alone :D

That is perfect Dave!

But what if a kid with a Sy shows up wanting your daughter.. And you get beat.. heh.

I dont like telling people lies about the truck, number one reason is because not to many people know about them anyway, that just means I'll have to put up with double that the next time I'm out in it because that one person ran their mouth and now I gotta correct everyone else. .:dunno:

I have just shut up and let people talk before though, and then I cut in and go "wanna race?" :D

It's even more interesting (or do I mean aggrivating?) explaining a "special" truck to someone. :robot: :banghead:

Re: Mis-information given

how about some jack-ass trying to convince his posse,at the track, that I put a syclone motor in my Jimmy. "See it even says Syclone on the motor...This guy is lying"

You guys won't believe this, but I'll share it anyway:

Went to a PepBoys to get some spark plugs. This is back when the ACR42TS or whatever were the BEST plugs in the world for it, basically pre-NGK days. So I go to the counter and ask for those, one douchebag goes "don't you mean 43s?" and then the other kid behind the counter goes "no, 42s are for syclones and typhoons only, they are a real plug, we have some." I was just floored.

I still slapped both of them before I left.

Funny that one guy knew about the plugs AND what they were for? Well done to him.

You should try living in the UK...

Its a bit like a land rover, but American. Heard of a GMC Jimmy? No? Sort of like a jeep but faster, no it is petrol. Where did you buy it? Saudi Arabia? But I thought you said it was American.... blah blah blah
