Hmmmm, I thought that the three exterior screws were all that held them on.

I just got my Ty mirrors the other day and all the screws are accesable from outside, just have to pull the mirror down against the spring to get at the top one.

I removed my Sy's mirrors not to long ago. You don't even have to open you door. It can be done completely from the outside. Three screws held the the plastic cover, than you can pull up the mirror itself and remove it. After that there are two more screws for the metal bracket which you can remove. Hopefully my memory serves well.

Anyway the Ty's mirror could be different. I don't know it.

Hmmm.... think you might be interested in taking some pictures of the install and doing a write up of the conversion for sytyarchives.com??? I've got my Ty power mirrors sitting in my closet.. figure I'll stick them on come summer.. would be nice to have some idea of what I'm doing before I chance destroying something by accident... knowing myself this would probably occur.....

The "elephant ears" on my Sy had two screws for the cover plate and three for the metal bracket. All were accessible from the outside of the truck. The Ty mirrors are attached with three screws. To remove the top screw, push the mirror towards the door glass (the screw is burried inside the mirror). BTW, the Sy screws are too short to use with the Ty mirror.

I remember getting those emails.. you got it, just never did update.

I have a set on the way (less the wiring & switch).

Mostly wanted them because I hate the big mirrors with a passion, maybe I'll hook them up to power sometime.

I'd be glad to do an install on STA for anyone willing to put it together.

It's one of those projects that takes more time than skill. Except for lengthening a few wires, most of the wiring is "plug-n-play." If you want the factory look, the hardest part is getting access to the main wiring harness, hangers and body grommets. Once you look at it, you might decide that the wiring can wait until later. I'll try to post a "how-to," but I can't promise anything soon (too many projects).

While we're talking about SyTyArchives. I posted pics of the "under-cab fuel pressure sender" and the "A-arm turning stops." Ian, any chance these will make your site?
