Miles per gal

I've been using the Sy as a DD lately. 12 mpg. Factoring in my lead foot I suppose that's not bad. Not very good either. About half and half city/fwy. Oh well, it should go "off duty' this week. That's 2.33 times WORSE than my regular DD.

BTW I know a guy that has a stock Sy and still he toasted 3rd and 4th. Make me wonder what he's doing with the thing.

12 seems pretty bad, no? I was getting 14.5-15 with 315/275s, and get low 16s with new wheel/tires on a ty

Re: Miles per gal

I'll have to run a cruise log. I've done one but it was a log time ago. Mind you, I'm not complaining just posting for s*(^ & giggles. I'll do a log. Probably worth it to see what's happening there anyway.

Re: Miles per gal

When mine was completely stock except for a cold air intake, 3" cat-back, and 2800 stall I would get 15 mpg all city driving when I would occasionally DD it to work in warmer months, but I didn’t get in boost much.

I drove it with those mods for 590 miles on the interstate when I moved, cruise control on 95% of the time at 75 mph and managed 18 mpg.

It now gets about 13 mpg city and 15 mpg highway.

When I was stock and drove it 3000 miles, I was averaging 18 to 20 mpgs. Plug gap makes a difference, at least it did for me.

When I am at a steady state cruise I see approx 15.5 or so A/F ratio, but that is how I set the fueling tables.
I also try & run as much total timing to get the max MPG, I never checked the mileage though, I always get into boost too much.

Re: Miles per gal

I get 19 MPG on highway and 16 MPG in the city, with 275/315 tyres and with stock tune, that needs to be updated for my mods actually.

Re: Miles per gal

I get 14.5 like clockwork.
My truck is all stock.

But I never get any extended highway miles to speak of.
All two lanes or small four lane highways.

I can definitely see where it could shine on the interstate.
My truck cruises effortlessly at 70.

I usually get around 13-14mpg driving a mix of city highway. Sometimes it dips in to the 12mpg if I am fooling around with it. I can get 19-20 mpg on highway if I stay out of boost, but that is a very rare event.

Re: Miles per gal

Just calculated out my stock Typhoon. I have DDed it the last 8k miles... This last 200 miles, mainly freeway, I got about 15.5... I was hoping for a bit more, but I guess it isn't too bad looking at the above posts. I drive mostly around 80-85 mph...

BTW Don,I was just kidding.

I was getting like 18 city/23 highway on a stockish build when I kept my foot out of it,which I never did,so 8/14. Probably and 5-6 broken trans.

Re: Miles per gal

No worries. I was never a very good hippy anyway. Hey, I'm actually doin' pretty good. My old '65 GMC with 394 Olds power and an even worse lead foot probably got less. A lot less. My 1970 2500 Suburban w/454 got 9mpg. Didn't matter what you did. Up hill or down, with trailer or without, 9mpg. I gave up trying make it better.
