I'm having this dilema too! i'm just at the start of my project, i jsut picked up a wrecked typhoon and am putting it in my monte carlo ss. I love sticks, and im not going to keep the awd, i was contemplating chopping the front of a frame off a 4x4 s10 and welding the two together, but the frames are way too different. but i digress haha, i was planning on putting a 5 speed in the car but apparently it would be slower with a stick. So maybe ill just put in the stick and put another 350 in it. that means my my 69 c/10 short bed would be the new organ doner transplant, hmmm im liking the idea of an awd 4.3 turbo 69 c/10 short bed, though back syclone!

maybe its just me, but I have enough to do keeping my truck straight, watching my WB and trying to remember where I am when I launch my truck, I don't think I could watch the tach as it screams up to 4400 RPM and shift to well 1.3 seconds into the run with all that going on, maybe I'm just a wuss

haha, well to each his own, i like the standard for the added controle, but its alot more helpfull on a high powered rwd car where you wanna slide it around corners and stuff. That being said..... a well built automatic will spank even the best shifting driver in a standad. (with the same amount of power) Think about it, your auto trans is already in second before its out of first....
