Re: lsx swap

FYI, the T56 from a Corvette is a transaxle that is located on the rear end (instead of bolted to the engine). Would really help with traction, but I'm not sure about clearance to the bed & gas tank. Would definitely be unique though.

Re: lsx swap

Personally having a t-56 in my typhoon clone, it can be done, However mine is mated to a syclone motor which is a little different. However theres tons of guys online doing v8 swps in 2wd s10 & blazers. If you google v8 s10 headers and motor mounts there is a v8 S series truck conversion site (cant remember or find it right now) with everything you need to do a swap either 4wd or 2wd in any s-series truck 82-05.

The only challenging thing will be positioning the motor and trans for a ease of installation on your other components (drive shaft and its angle, steering shaft, headers, mounts ect) and your wiring of course. As well as things like your heater box if you keep ac, powersteering may challenge you too. Figuring out your belt line and positioning of the belt line can be tricky too. Do some searching on s10 forums, plenty of members have attempted and completed swaps like yours. If i Can help with info in any way when you get into it feel free to pm me.

Most important make a build thread so we can watch all the burnouts you do!!

The website is S10V8.com They have plenty of info on their forum, and a store tab to buy all of the parts you should need.

You're looking at way more than just swapping fuel delivery components if you want to swap in an entire engine. How old are you? What level of mehanical skills do you have? What about wiring/electronics? Fabrication ability? Finally, how deep are your pockets. It can get expensive quick when you don't know what you're doing.

Re: lsx swap

well I'm used to working on 3rd gen camaros and firebirds

 Me too!! I used to scour TGO like a religion. Anyway, do your research before you dabble in anything. The worst way to learn is by buying the wrong parts.

You could also look into doing a front mount distributor and carb.

If you have money or have a buddy that works in a machine shop, you CAN run the 'vette t56 with awd! I can't believe how soon you assholes, I mean, sytyers forget things.

We may have assholes around here but at least our assholes know their shit! Sorry bad unintended pun. :rotf:

I forgot to add, the F-body t-56 would be easier and cheaper to swap in.

Third gens suck by the way! Just kidding, my first car was an '84 with an LG4 and I also had a 1989 LB9 Formula.

Re: lsx swap

I miss my 84 Trans Am. The only original thing on there was the body and a-arms. Its been 3.5 years since i broke her heart. I'm actually looking to start piecing together the 421 that i always wanted to build. Should be a nice low revving torque monster on 87 gas. i'll be hunting for 10's with it.

well back to topic. this board has plenty of LSX swaps done. maybe hit up eviltwin or any of the other members who have done the swap. most people do the swap with AWD so yours should be simpler.
