ah. sorry. I couldn't get passed Human Resources. I was wondering who the hell from HR would be in the mix. I thought HRV6 was the accepted acronym.

well there are 2 cables per kit. But yes...there was a lot of profit built into this group buy.

Butt load of profit. That's why I got so pissed off when I saw where he was trying to chew Renz down on the price. The guy made enough to buy the plasma cutter to make the brackets with, package them, and ship them out. I contacted the cable company back early on when he was saying two weeks, next week, all of that crap and the company he was supposed to be using had NO record of ANY contact with him. None, nada. This was after he started giving bogus shipping dates. This is really pathetic. AFTER I posted, I'm sure he HAD to do something but of course that was nearly 8 months ago. I honestly believe he had NO intentions of doing anything with this until he realized guys weren't just gonna let it go. In no way has he "manned up". Renz is the man who stepped in and gave this joker an out. Not that Renz did it for him, he did it for those people he screwed. The big thing from all of this is I'm now concerned that this can go two ways. Others with intentions like HRV6, can take it as, I can screw these guys and walk away OR they will look at it as, I can screw them and the community will come together, fix my screwjob and I still walk away ahead. This has NOT been good in any way whatsoever.

The last GP I did on the input shafts resulted in me losing almost $300 but I wanted to make them available as I knew it was something the community would benefit from like Renz mentioned I think. Something like "this was supposed to be something fun for the hobby" or something to that effect. My GP made it possible for guys like Mike Lee and Nolan, to sell bigger engine builds and move the hobby forward. So everyone benefitted that was involved but me. I guess that's another reason this bothered me so much. NO ONE has benefitted from this mess but HRV6, HR, whatever you want to call him.

as individuals we just have to be careful with how we throw our $ around blindly. Having blind faith doesn't always work out....but sometimes you gotta give a benefit of the doubt. I hope this doesn't kill the group buy concept or make others skeptical that they can work. The common point of a group buy are to get a discount by buying things in bulk - where typically the person organizing the group buy ends up getting a free set of whatever it is the group buy is buying...or makes a couple $s for their time. Not thousand(s).

As for fabrication, communities this size benefit from group buys becuase vendors have a tough time recooping costs of making one or 2 items, becuase setup fees are often so high. Vendors end up having less profit margin, but more sales and less wasted time / make better use of setup costs / able to charge less for a product. HRV6 isn't a vendor, but was trying to fabricate something, and also purchase something in bulk...so he was somewhere between these 2 versions of a group buy.

I gotta commend Renz for stepping in and cleaning up this mess.

This has been a painful ordeal even for those NOT involved.

Like George said, this gives EVERY online vendor a black eye just because one guy was greedy and decided his needs came before everyone else's.

Apparently HRV6 has seen the error in his ways and we get this resolved to everyones satisfaction.

While I am not holding my breathe I do have some hope now that he has at least attempted at getting this resolved.
Renz will catch his own pass and run 99 yards for the TD, I am sure of it.

I was truely impressed that the community kept the pressure on, that a few individuals dogged him on other group-boards & ebay (Daryl H. among others - great avatar!), and of course Renz's intervention (after months of patience) on behalf of the buyers.
While I don't believe that he should turn a profit from his deceit either, I do believe that the overall message is that the Net is not an 'anonymous big city' where u can rip people off without consequence. At least w/ this community, it's all too transparent and we don't keep quiet when we see someone else about to get ripped off.
If I were inclined to practice fraud, I'd prefer ebay or craigslist.
Thank You Renz - I know that you've been waiting for months to offer your bracket until this was settled.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

What i cant understand is why everybody keeps bitching about the price of the kits, i kep tthe price the same as the first time these were available from jjorgeson, and i had to pay more for the cables. Lets not all act like profit is a dirty word. Its very hard to put a price on your time.

And if i was out to defraud everybody from the start, why would i BUY the stuff from jjorgeson in the first place, i already had a kit for myself that i could have used to make the brackets, and finding the cables isnt that hard if you look around. And why would i keep using the same username on every forum that im a member on? Lets think about this. Ive been here for quit awhile, and have bought and sold parts like most of us have, jjorgeson couldnt provide the kits any longer, and there was a demand for them, so i decided to take on the task and make them available to everybody, just like i did with the volvo recal fan install kits when the original guy couldnt deliver them, and as far as i know nobody had a problem with them, and didnt take forever to deliver product either.

I called the cable manufacturer before i ever posted up the GP thread, and was told once the order was placed it was usually 10 days to ship, well i waiting till the end of march to place the order, and then everytime i called to check status they said the guy was on vacation, and then he was buying out the business, and then on vacation again, and everytime i called it took him a min to find my info, so i dont think they keep very good records, and if you called and asked about my order it wouldnt surprise me if they didnt know anything.

People can think that i was out to defraud from the start all they want, but that simply wasnt the case, and just to be clear, i didnt use any of the money from this GP to buy the plasma cutter, i bought it from a guy for 450 and the money came from delivering a truck for a buddy of mine in dallas. The cable order alone was right at a grand, and a couple hundred for the hardware, and 150 for the 4x10 sheet of 16 guage mild steel. Any profit i made on this GP was spent along time ago on my frame swap that ended up getting totaled, to everybodys delight.

I would like to again thank Smaug for the avatar.

Thanks a bunch Renz for stepping up to the plate.

I am sorry for pushing the HotrodV6 is a thief so many times.
I was hoping that the could have incited Tibedeau on finishing the GP quicker.

I guess it was worth a year wait for a superior product.

You should have 14 addys to ship the brackets to.

The money went in the mail this morning, and the cables will be picked up at my place by DHL this afternoon.

The tracking number for them is

www.dhl.com
DHL #26703232555

You should have everything by the end of the week.

I hope with these new brackets, everybody involved will be happy with the kit they recieved, and i want to thank Renz for stepping in and offering to make the brackets, because i obviously couldnt make them as good as i thought i could.

And again, Im very sorry for dragging this whole thing out so long, and making people wait on account of my bad judgement and laziness. I hope one day we can all be freinds again.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

I got a chance to test fit my brackets just now . They slide right on , that second bend really helped the cable angle vs the original set .Maybe even doing 120* vs 90* on the last small bend will be better but everyone should be very pleased when they get these. I wanted to see the length from bracket to arm so the cables lengths can be verified with whats needed but i wont be able to bolt them down until tomorrow . Someone should send a set of those cables down here so i can fit it all together *cough ;) *cough* . That second half of this puzzle wont do any of the 14 people any good if they are the wrong length . At least if its verified , and something is wrong , the arm extending of the bracket can be made longer or shorter to match the cable . Thats what Ive convinced myself of anyway , someone should really send me some cables .
