LS valvetrain "issue"

Well, they are not bullet proof. It could have been worse, just have to get the broken stud out of the head, a couple of straight chromoly pushrods, some new rockers and it might run again. No car craft nat's this year

interesting, valve float Norm. was this at high rpm? I see you are still using the fuel rails I sold you.

Re: LS valvetrain "issue"

The design of that rocker arm where it interfaces with the head looks quite a bit more prone to flex than the stock type. They just have that small pad that rests on the head surface, I cant imagine that valvetrain being very sturdy. in my SBC days i had to run stud girdles to keep everything in line. i would consider going back to stock rockers or jesels/t&d

Re: LS valvetrain "issue"

They have a mutual shaft that they run in pairs for support. I was thinking of going back to stock and using a trunion upgrade. I'll see if they honor their lifetime warranty first. The pushrod on the exhaust port come out with a nice bend in it.

Re: LS valvetrain "issue"

I run stock rockers on all of my hydraulic stuff with no issues. Brian Tooley racing offers a trunion upgrade. Put probably 10k miles on my vette turbo rocker set up with zero issues.

Re: LS valvetrain "issue"

I have used stock rockers with trunion upgrade on a couple motors and its worked very well. one motor was a 630 lift ls2/3 that i spun to about 6800, right now my 4.8 goes to about 7600 with the same stuff. no issues at all.
I remember a long time ago when ls stuff was pretty new a few companies like yella terra came out with rockers and they ended up kinda going out of style. I think they are necessary with the older sbc type setups but the lsx architecture is pretty hard to beat once you put good pushrods and trunions in.
