Cool.
I was just thinking if you are going with some Corvette wheels, get the rear axle made to fit the big offset of the Corvette wheels.
But never mind. Just thinking out loud.

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

Doesn't look like it but got a lot done this week. Really trying to make good use of my time on this truck as I have been very busy at work. It's heading to a friends shop this week to have the firewall patched up and a couple of odds and ends taken care of. I hope to be working on the downpipe back exhaust later this week sometime...

Good news! Firewall is fixed from where I had to notch it. My buddy did some awesome work on it.

I Hope to get close to finishing exhaust this weekend. Will either dump before rear end or go all the way out the back. 5 inches all the way back.

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

I am LOVING this build!! I was sold on doing this same swap myself and bought myself a built LS, oil pan, motor mounts, custom headers, etc., then came to the realization that I was not personally cut out for exactly what your doing. I went back to basics and I am now currently building the shit out of my 4.3 backed by a fresh (and also built) 4L80e.
By the way, everything I have read and all that I have spoken to agree that the transfer case is good up to 1000hp and your front diff should survive by default. The factory 60/40 power division as well as some good ol' weight transfer under hard launches and your front diff should be just fine. Your weakest link however will be your prop shaft. If you haven't already, invest in a quality product and be sure to use front and rear loops!
Keep the photos coming, its the second best thing to porn!

Thanks for the comments!

5 inch exhausts are a pain in the a$$.

It will probably dump before the rear end as it's a little difficult to find tight radius bends.

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

Went by the machine shop late Friday and it looks like my engine is almost done. Iron block 402, callies crank, oliver rods, weisco pistons (spec by Brian Tooley), Trick Flow 245 heads, Morel lifters.....

Waiting on the oil pan from Moroso. My engine builder (who is a very good friend) is very meticulous and didn't like the Turbo Time pan that came with the truck. He asked me if I wanted a custom pan to which I replied "let me think about it." I called him the next day and said "go ahead" and his response was "good because I ordered it two weeks ago!" haha!

If anybody is looking for a turbo time ls swap pan and ls swap engine mounts shoot me a PM.

Going to the beach for a week so won't have anything to update for a bit.

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

Did you have to notch the firewall any for the tranny fitment?

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

the firewall was already massaged by the previous owner....truck had an ls1 in it when I bought it (but have since torn it apart I think I drove it 5 minutes with the previous setup haha)

still waiting on my motor and trans to arrive. should be next week. have gotten a good amount of things done and I am ready for the motor/trans now.

Was wondering if you already have done the piping for the intercooler to the throttle body?

Looking good!:tup::tup:

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

You are more than welcome to go for a ride. I am located in Maryland.

It's been a little frustrating over the past few weeks waiting on an oil pan from Moroso. It is now two weeks late and won't ship until Thursday.

This weekend I hope to finish wrapping all the turbo hot side and start on the crossmember for the driveshaft loop.

If ANYBODY out there has a lead on a correct length 12 bolt for a syclone I would greatly appreciate it. Going to order a brand new one from Moser otherwise with the wave track.

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

the additional sump is added on to replace lost capacity, so it would be same as stock.

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

it will be longer then 2weeks, i contacted him back when that popped up and am still waiting as he's been busy. might as well stick with getting the moroso for now..

Re: LS Swap Syclone Single Turbo Build

On mine, I am using a remote oil filter. The milodon above has the oil feed and return in the exact same place that the turbotime pan has. The custom oil pan I'm getting from moroso has no provisions for feed/return - this is done with fittings installed in the block (I think the rpm pan is like this). I really didn't like the location of the feed/return being so freaking close to the diff.

Sparkwire - off topic I know but what rear is in your truck??
