The search button does me no justice so i am just going to ask my question. The front of my ty is lowered about two inches from adusting my torsion bars. I am intrested in getting new front shocks and was wondering if i need lowering shocks or could i still use stock ones?

I spoke to the techs at Bilstein regarding this when I put the lowering leafsprings on the Syclone. They said stock shocks are OK up to a 1" drop, beyond that you should use drop shocks.

Unless you change the dynamic range of the suspension, stock shocks will work fine. Shorten the bump stops or such, you need to get a shock that wont bottom out during the additional suspension movement shorter bumpstops allow.

If you're replacing rear leafs with a shorter spring with less arch then ... yes you should consider replacing stock bilsteins with drop shocks.... If you're using drop blocks in the rear then there's no need as the axle is raised... Answer I received about shortening shock travel distance was that stock bilstein's were good up to 1 1/2" however, personally I'd rather have the correct shock especially if I ran my truck hard or over rough roads...

Stock front shocks should be fine with lowered torsion bars
