lowering block centering.

I'm sure this has been asked but..... I'm making 3" lowering blocks for the sy. Is there a measurement I can to center the axle or do I have to eye ball it? I am making my own dowl pin and drilling the hole where I need it. Thanks.

3" is alot for these little trucks. I'd probably go with springs and blocks

Yep, got a set sitting in the project box which is a big ass tote with all my parts that are slowly migrating into the Typhoon.

the centering blocks do work great... but the belltech sway bar doesn't move back with the axle. Meaning the bottom of the U bolts for the sway bar are now angled a bit towards the front of the truck and the sway bar itself is no longer directly beneath the differential. Not sure if that makes a huge difference, but thought I'd throw that out there.

3" blocks with stock leafs springs is going to ride like shit... err at least IMO. Everyone has their own preference, but I'd say, stock springs and 2" blocks w/setback plates, or belltech drop leafs and 1" blocks w/setback plates. That's the lowest you want to go for ride quality and for your cladding. But I don't know shit about nothin'

Here's my dilemma. The truck is stock. I put KYB monomaxes on the rear and I now have a 3" difference front to back. Thats why I want to go 3" just match the front. Take that god awlfull rake away. Looks like SHIT!

what shocks are up front? Maybe that shit's worn out and front end is a lil lower than stock making the back look worse?

shocks don't have Sh*t to do with ride height... With that said, if all of a sudden your truck has a rake because of new shocks it doesn't make any sense.

Anyway I ran 3" blocks and 2" blocks and my truck rode like a dump truck. I'm now running beltech leafs with a 1" block and it truely rides and handles very well. I have no complaints. When I had the 3" blocks I hated driving my truck and it was embarrassing having a passenger. My :2cents:

what the above post is true. Shocks have zero to do with ride height. Cranks on the front keysd and make it sit level with some springs and centering pins. All I have on the back of mine is bell leafs. Sits good, and I can still have 4 peeps in mine and not bottom out.

I guess its an optical illusion or I used two different tape measures to check it. Nevermind I'll figure it out myself.

after some thought and discussions with people just curious if someone can explain how your ride quality would get worse with lowering blocks?considering you're not changing springs, spring rate or anything like that simply moving the axle up how would that change your ride quality?not looking for a smart ass answers just kind of curious.

You lose 3" of shock/spring travel. The truck will pretty much ride on the bump stops. If you cut the bump stops the axel tubes will hit the frame. You will feel every bump as if you didn't have any suspension at all.

^x2 you lose suspension travel and you also run into the problem of axle wrap which isn't so much a ride quality issue as it is a performance one.

I am still a rookie but I have slammed an S10 or two (mini trucker in the day...yeah I know) and I will say blocks above 1" aren't the best option. They work and will do what you want but there are better ways that are about the same price.
