Low Boost AGAIN.....

Can't seem to hold high boost so I pulled the line off the actuator from the intake and plugged it.

I should get max boost this way, correct?

OK, just did a little drive around the neighborhood (I didnt go over 81mph!)

Boost is peaking at 21 psi and dropping off to high 14's, low 15's.

My thoughts are one of two things...

1 - the turbo cant keep up with the air flow

2 - the internal gate is being pushed open by the exhaust and the actuator isnt strong enough to hold it back. (I do have it adjusted with some overlap and had to use a pair of pliers to get it on the pin)

My next step is going to be temporarily wiring the flapper down to keep it closed but looking for some additional thoughts before doing this.

Yes, the unhooked WG actuator will result in (in)finite boost. Most likely, you're seeing the puck being pushed open by ex. pressure. I had this same problem with my old 60-1/12cm2 hybrid. I wound up with a GN actuator that I drilled a hole in the rod end (the piece that goes over the puck pin) back closer to the threads. I always had a 2 psi swell at max boost (24 psi settling down to 22 psi), but it was liveable and the thing had incredibly consistent control (aside from the inital spike). Your spike/settle difference is WAY worse than mine was, so my course of action may not be an option for you.

Could be a intake restriction as well, or a plugged exhaust.

Also, way out of whack fueling can do this sort of thing as well. What's AFR showing?
