Im looking to start a build, i have done some research but in your opinion what would be the strongest 4.3l iron bowtie block to go with?

goal is to be well over the 500hp mark.

going to start shopping and want to get all opinions on what block to go after.

I have no deadline, I wouldn't call this a budget build but still don't want to totaly break the bank.

looking to pick the block from a yard.

Re: Looking to buy a bowtie block.

Are you sure your looking to build a bowtie? Not trying to be a dick, but that's a serious dollar engine.....you won't find one in a yard.....it's a GM racing block. You dont need a bowtie for 500hp, my stock block build made over 700hp.

I have one ready to go 305 stroked heads to pan 25,000 you cant build it for less. Or you could just use your stocker and save 20,000.

Re: Looking to buy a bowtie block.

ok not looking for a gm race block. sorry fo my ignorance but i thought i read that a bowtie was a block that i might find in a production vehicle in a junk yard. i dont own a sy/ty so no stock block to start with. i guess what im asking is what year make and model vehicle should i look for that has a block that would be a good starting point for a build?

Re: Looking to buy a bowtie block.

Im confused!! You dont own a sy ty but you want to build a 500 hp 4.3 v6 engine. What are you putting it in?? A good starting point would be a engine from a Syclone of Typhoon. A 4.3 out of a chevy mini van of blazer jimmy is not the same thing. The sy ty motors are beefed up.

Just buy the motor I'm selling. 7k and it's yours....fits what your lookin for. It's in the classified ads.

But if your going to build anything just spend the coin and get a real bowtie block. You get what you pay for....keep that in mind

Save your money . You can buy a whole vehicle for what it will cost you starting from scratch . A stock syty engine would be a great place to start . At least then any problems you come across will have answers easily available . Hopefully this will not be for your daily driver ?

Re: Looking to buy a bowtie block.

red ty pm me a price.

i have an anglia with a small block chevy that might be a candidate for a turbo 4.3

once my DD is paid off at the beginning of next year i'm going to start shopping for a syclone or typhoon again and would like to keep the stock engine and trans in good shape so this build will most likely be for my future truck.

but i can always shoe horn it into something else.
