Looking for a Ty, split from smoke on startup

Yep, a few tool companies make them.
I have a K-D Tools #2078. It works great and it's cheap.
http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/MAN34_TTW420.html
Basically, the tool grabs the top and bottom of the spring and you turn the knob at the top to compress the spring shorter. Once the spring is short enough, the retainers are then accessible. The shop air blowing into the spark plug hole just keeps the valve spring from falling into the cylinder when the springs/retainers are removed.
GM has the hard plastic seals (little white ones) and also the rubber seals. If I remember correctly, the rubber ones are better, use them on all intake and exhaust valves.
Hope this helps.
:)

Shamless plug time,

I noticed that you are from Vancouver, are you a syty owner as well? Just thought I'd let you know about the gathering that we are having in August.

Actually, just put an ad in the "wanted" ads here. I'm looking to get a Ty, don't have one yet, hoping to get one soon.Used to have a Sy many years ago, but it ended up somewhere in Alberta. Got the itch for another one ! Anyone looking to sell a nice Ty for under $10K up here in the NW ?

Do you have any idea what truck # you had? Last 4 of the VIN#.

If you sold it about 4 1/2 years ago I may know of that truck.

#2332 I think. But I'm reaching wayyyy back, and my memory's not too hot.
I sold it to a good friend of mine named Dave, and he sold it to some guy in Alberta.
That's the last I've heard of it. Do they even have paved roads out there? :p

The one I was thinking of was #554. It was brought to Alberta about 4-5 years ago. Bought from a fellow who worked at a GM dealer out there. It was totalled last year in a nasty accident.

I'm not aware of any others that have come from BC since then. Another one to track down.

Oh, and yeah one or two but they are short

Okay, it might seem like a coincidence, but my friend sold it about 5 years ago. I sold it to him like 7 years ago. When you get to my age, you should just be glad that you remember to put your diaper on before you leave the house. #554 sounds awfully familiar, now that you mention it, and I was a tech at a GM dealer for 9 years. So what are the chances? So you're telling me that my baby's gone? NOOOOOO!

Sorry for the bad news dude.

There are many parts of it still bouncing around here if it's any consulation(sp?) to you. Some of which have made it to my Sy and into my garage.

I'm not sure if anyone got pics of it. The good news is the driver survived, but his pooch did not. Mark( 0260in3) was the owner/driver at the time.

Whoa! I don't like it when doggies get hurt. That's awful ! What happened? Did the guy hit someone? Glad he's ok, that's what counts!

Some woman ignored a stop sign and T-boned him real hard in the passenger door. Folded the truck real bad. The passenger door was against the console. There wasn't much left.

Mark took a good impact and spent some time eating hospital food, his dog wasn't so lucky. From what I understand the dog played a factor in keeping Mark safe, perhaps even saved his life. It was a sad day for many reasons, just glad Mark survived.

Maybe he will chime in here.

I always wondered what happened to it.
It wasn't quite what I expected to hear though.
You're right, it is quite sad.
