Looking for a front differential cover

I own a '93 Ty (#0291) and I am looking for a replacement front differential cover (what I refer to as a skidplate). I've called around to the local dealerships and no luck so far. Before I get into calling the list of queries of dealers that I had the dealership call up for me, I wanted to see if anyone on the site can point me in the right direction on getting one through here. The GM part number is 15677715 according to what the dealer's computer called up, but it was for the S-10 Blazer/S-15 Jimmy 4x4 and not specifically for the Ty. Is there a difference in the part for the chassis involved? I would prefer if I could find something within 100 miles radius of either Hinesville/Fort Stewart area or the ATL area. Thanx!

If you're talking about the 2 sq ft aluminum thingy, I have an extra one. Mine came off of an 4wd S10 but fit's my Sy just fine. It requires a little bit of welding, about 8" of it.

The plastic front skidplates are the same across the board for all first-gen S-trucks unless you get the aluminum ones featured in the off-road package.

How much do you want for it? The one on mine right now is cracked and the bolt holes are too big around from Lord knows what. The owner I bought my Ty off of musta scraped something to crack it the way it is...

Also, what condition is the part in? Did you get it off a truck in a salvage yard? Is it new? Any cracks or damages? If it is in used condition, would it be possible to see some pics of it before I would commit to it? Thanx.

Putting a bump in for this. I am still in the market for a front differential cover. I had one sent to me from a dealership in PA, but it ended up being an off-road diff cover. My old one is cracked in several places and the bolt holes are all wallered out so that I have to use washers in order for the bolts to retain the cover in place. Thanx!

i have one that has a couple cracks similar shape to yours but all in one piece, i had been thinking about trying to find someone to reproduce it in aluminum and use mine as a template. . . . . . .

If you do that, let me know...I'd go for it in aluminum in a heartbeat. I found some old posts from back in 2007 and 2008 about a scoop someone made and even had the design template posted on a webpage, but the numbers were too small to read on it. Someone else posted a pic of an aluminum plate shaped just like the stock plate, but from what I could gather reading the posts, no one is making them anymore.

If anyone is making these or knows someone that is or can get me the plans in a larger pic size so the numbers can be read, please let me know. I'm slowly getting to the end of my string trying to find a replacement for this thing. I also gotta send the aluminum plate that the PA dealership said would fit but ended up being a skidplate for a 4x4 application.

I got that link, but the plans at the bottom are too small to allow some of the numbers to be read. If I could get it where the numbers are legible, then I could prolly go to a local metal fabrication shop and have it done up.

Mike what numbers can't you read? If you start at the lower left corner and go clockwise they are.
1. = 4"
2. = 1" bent section
3. = 3"
4. = 1/2" bent section
5. = 4" from back edge. Note #4 and 5 work together.
6. = 20"
7. = 10" from front edge. Note #7 and 2 work together.
8. = 5 1/2" from front edge. Note #8, 9, 1 and 3 work together.
9. = 1/2" radius.

You must start out with a sheet of 3/16 Aluminum 29 9/16" X 24".

Note: Double check all measurements. I made one of these and it has work Great for all these years. But on the next one that I make it will be 1" longer on the #1 and 3 measurement. I will make the changes needed on the #2 bend for the 1" longer tabs.

You answered my question on the numbers! Thanks! I already got a local metal fabrication shop to hit up with this tomorrow when they open. I like the way it looks and I've pretty much given up getting a stock diff cover anyway, so I'll go with this! Thanks again!

Glad that I could help you out. Make sure that you recheck all #'s. The reason that I will be going with a 1"longer tabs is for more air flow and to put a message on the bottom edge. The one that I use now work really well. Even on a hot day the intercooler is cool to the touch.
