Just got my issue in today, was alittle pissed when reading it. Wrote a letter to the editior, if im lucky, hopefully Ill get into readers rap. This is what I wrote....
How are you,
I was looking through my new August 2003 Truckin Magazine and I noticed an article about the Silverado SS vs Lightning Shootout. When describing the
performance specs(pg 99) of the Lightning I noticed it was said, " The
powerplant helped propel the vehicle to 60MPH in a very quick 7.6
seconds-faster than any production truck of its time. Since 1993, the
Lightning has enjoyed a great amount of success, and literally no
competition,.....". This statement is untrue and unfair. While most are
not familiar with GMC's 1991 Syclone, it was, and is still, the quickest
production truck ever. The syclone is a AWD, 4.3L V6, Turbocharged and
intercooled pickup truck. According to GM advertising, it states 0-60MPH
times of 4.6 seconds, which is faster than the lightnings 6.3 seconds. Also
1/4 mile time for the Syclone were stated at 13.4 seconds stock, while the
Lightning runs a 14.6 second. On top of these impressive numbers, the
Syclone also uses technology that is over 12years old. Hope I did inform
some people on some old forgotten american muscle.
