lifter problems

can anyone help? valve train sounds like a sewing machine.
Here is what I have done so far, adj lifters cold, hot and running (cut out valve cover) each time 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 turns no luck. Stock car racer said try turning them down running till the engine starts to miss and back them off 1 turn still no luck. Talked to the guys at RPM and he said might be a bad set of lifters from Comp Cams (they had some bad ones out there a few years ago) sent them back and they sent me a new set still no luck. Replaced the new 1.6 full roller rockers and went back to 1.5 still no luck, the valve train geometry of the valve train was good with both rockers. The only odd thing is there is very little oil comming to the rocker. I read the oil pressure at the turbo line and it is 65 at idle with a good gage. Valve train parts.... all comp. cam parts 412 cam, 850 lifters, full roller lifters and their springs.
Thanks Paul

Re: lifter problems

1/2 turn from zero preload is all you need. if that doesnt work and after all you've done there may be a problem with your motor. I know on startup there is very little oil that will get to the rockers and it may take quite some time to get there.

Re: lifter problems

Did you just recently rebuild the engine?

The roller rockers have a very small hole in them to limit the amount of oil that gets used because they don't require much lube to operate correctly.

If your lifters are noisy then you've definatly have a oil feed problem to the lifter gallery.
Sounds like you've tried all kinds of adjustments on the rockers with out any luck pre-loading the lifters. They are not getting enough oil pressure.
If I remember right.. when the camshaft bearings are not lined up with the oil holes it'll cause this problem.
Double check that you've got the correct spring pressure too.

E-mail me if you'd like..

Hope I can help....

I'm installing alot of Comp cams products this week on our Typhoon engine.

Re: lifter problems

i have the same issue with the same setup as you haven only on 1 rocker though. it squirts as much oil as the others do, i'am hoping it are the 850''s causing problems, altough i have replaced them already at one time.
stepping up to 875's and hope it solves my problem.
