dad and i were in bristol this past year for the bristol bash, unfortunately didnt run but got to see some cool cars! this was the 1st time we met les and his family! super nice guy with an awsome family/friends and a fast truck! but to cut to the chase, i was in Books-A-Million the other day and was reading about this event and what do you know, les' truck is in another magazine! oddly enough in a mustang mag.

look for the the June 2004 Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords then flip to page 194. congrats les and family! hope you get well soon!

Yeah, I noticed the Sy there too.. almost looks like the truck to the left of it may be a 2nd one.. hard to tell. Can see a sliding rear window. Im guessing since they made no mention of the truck in the article that it mopped up ?

Les had the only Syclone, there was one other truck - a 2wd s-10 (black with flames) that didn't do so well. I tried to keep track, and I think Les finished 4th (maybe 5th).

The blue mustang convertible in the front row of these pics was wicked fast - I think he finished third behind a Datsun 260z with a small block (drag car) and a 67-68 Chevelle (drag car). I think the red mustang in the first row was also pretty quick, but he broke on is second or third pass. It was obvious there was some serious bias towards selecting "street legal" for the race. The Datsun guy ran the Nitrous Express trailer at the event. That Chevelle and especially the Datsun were about as streetable as a dragster - both were deep into the 9's. The blue mustang ran 2 of the three passes in the 9's, looked very nice, and appeared very streetable.

My wife and I had a great time that weekend with Jim and Matt, the Youngs, and Ray and Tina Mills. I hope all of us can get together again this year.

How did they let that slip? They should fire the hack that wrote that story. I heard he also snuck in a picture of a Chevy-powered Mustang :D

Actually, I think Les' truck is also pictured on page 196, at the very top of the hill, in between the red Chevelle and the red Trans Am. Popular Hot Rodding's lead shot has a much better view of the truck. Unfortunately, none of my Syclone pictures turned out for the GMHTP coverage. I thought there might have been one more truck besides Les and Hoover's. I tried to talk one of the guys into making a run on the autocross course, but I think he was having engine trouble and couldn't do it. There will probably be a picture of Jerry McCoy's truck in the story though.
