Leaf spring questions swapping?

Okay this is going to be long.

Currently my Sy has 2" blocks in the rear, my 2wd s-10 also has 2" blocks in the rear. Well I do not like blocks but the sy came with them, and before I bought my sy I planned on doing everything to my s-10 so I got all the parts to rebuild the front end since it had bad ball joints and what not so while I was at it I got drop spindles and did not have much left over so I used blocks with the plan of springs eventually. Then along came the sy and the s-10 is a daily driver and well it seems to suffer from the clunk that blocks get at times (heard from some s-10 owners) and well its finally getting real annoying so my thought is to kill 2 birds with one stone. I plan on putting a nasty 391 small block in the s-10 so that should lower the front some more and then I wanted a total of 3" drop in the rear, I think that will look good with the timeless 5's in 17x11. Well I am thinking of getting the bell tech 3" drop springs and putting them on the sy and putting the sy springs on the S-10. Would that work, from what I have heard the Sy's where lowered 2" from the factory, plus the fact that they are 12 years old with 70k on them so that would make them sit a little lower. I was also considering removing the overload leaf if it sat a little to high in the rear. I would probably get some poly bushings for the springs at the same time also. So what do you guys think am I crazy or would this work out. I figure that would give me just the right stance on the s-10 and possibly a touch too high on the sy but that would be fine and I would get used to it. Or the other solution would be just to get new springs for all but that would screw up the s-10 a little because the rear would be lower than the front till I got my small block.
Sorry for the long post and lot of questions hopefully some one can help.

cant offer help but id like to find out a similar question...

since dumping the exhaust on the sy, the ass end has come up considerably... to make it worse, i plan on getting or making a carbon fiber tailgate....this will raise it more...

i currently have 2" blocks... and i dont want to go 3" for risk of cracking a block...plus the ride begins to really suck at 3.

id rather go with a dearched spring...but want to stay away from the fiberglass springs.... they are good for awhile, but always snap...

is there any sort of dearched spring that i could use with maybe a 1-2" block?

i have 3" blocks in my syclone now. i ended up putting a set of air shocks in the back due to the reason the rearend came up so high hitting bumps that the rear hit the frame. i like the way it was with 2" blocks but it would bottom out when i put my quad in the back. a buddy of mine put 3" in his 2 wheel drive s-10 blazer. he ended up doing a c-notch on his truck. then a year later he ended up putting a posi rear in it along with bags and a 4-link set up. im not sure if he has the same problem i had with the 3" blocks or he wasnt happy with the light under his truck. because now a year later. he redid the front end to get it closer to earth. when he let the air out of the bags this truck is laying frame. i would just leave the 2" in the sy if you dont plan on hauling anything heavy. if you say you have alot of miles on it maybe you should just get the new spings for the sy. thays the way i see it others might see it diffrent. but let me know on what you choose. good luck.

Bell Tech drop leafs are 3" drop stock so thats a 2" drop on a SyTy.

BEL-5954 From summit all they charge is $7.95 S&H for the PAIR.
Plus if you order a bunch of shit it all is only $7.95 S&H

I have a set I am putting on with Caltracs, so I don't have feedback just yet.
Need to get all the aluminum bushings pressed in.

Jas I was hoping you would help out some. I know you recommend summit and that was why I am asking so I can order all my junk at once. Whats this about pressing in bushings, is that for the cal-tracs? I thought the springs came with the bushings installed?

Belltech leaf springs come with bushings pressed in. They are a multi-leaf spring (3 leafs) and have a great ride. I had them on my 93 S-10 truck. 3" lowering blocks are okay, just make sure they are made out of extruded aluminum and not cast as the cast ones will break. A good mono-tube shock will help keep you from bottoming out. Stay away from mono-leaf springs as they tend to be bouncy and don't offer much load support. We are also releasing an air bag system that bolts onto the top of the leaf spring and side of the frame that acts as a load assist. Email me if you have any questions I can help you with.

Has anyone tried the beltech 3 inch springs on a sy that races?

I want to lower the rear of mine a bit, for some reason it's really high back there. The current stance is good for racing and I'm not sure how much lowering the back will affect it.

Nolan had a set of those springs on his Synoma back in the day, said they wheel hopped like crazy. Of course a sy may not suffer the same problem. Anyone know?

Thanks Bear Dog, forgot there was someone on the board that was associated with bell tech. Bear Dog the part # Jas posted is correct for my Sy right?
Sorry Tony I can't help you at least yet as I plan on racing quite a bit, I figure if I think theres a problem I will do the same as Jas and use some caltracs.

I put Belltech's on my ty, the stocks were so worn out it raised the backend 1". They ride great, but that is compaired to a worn out set of stocks. I don't know about the sy, but the ty has pinion wedges that need to be put on the belltechs. They just unbolt.

Hey Tony!
I got the Bel Techs on the Syclone. Havent been to the track with them, but have done a few launches and all is well. I have the koni adjustable shocks so that may contribute to a controlled launch. So far I like the Bell techs. I had some beefy ubolts made by a local shop to replace the old U bolts, no pep boys stuff. I suggest a few days of penetrating oil on the U bolts and leaf spring bolts before you have at em..
