Re: Laptop For Tuning

I am getting ready to buy a laptop for datamaster. Do I need one with windows 7 or the one with windows xp?

Buy a cheap netbook with windows xp. I use a lenovo S10 and it works nice. It's very small.

Re: Laptop For Tuning

I have a cheap laptop ($350 from bestbuy) with windows vista and I was able to make DM run properly. There are newer versions of DM out now that are more vista/windows 7 friendly but you will need a new authorization code. Either way when you install DM on a new laptop you will need a new auth code so just download the latest version from TTS.

Netbooks are nice but go for at least the 10.1" screen.. I have the 8.9" and it's just "too" small.

Re: Laptop For Tuning

datamaster will run on windows 98 so find yourself a $50 -$100 cheap old laptop and your good.
pay attention to what ports the laptop has... because if your dm cable is serial then find one with a serial port because the serial to usb adapters suck balls and work 50% of the time.. if your cable's usb even better.

Re: Laptop For Tuning

hp isn't bad but clearly not the best. they have a decent failure rate but have allot more units sold compared to the other companies in it's class and I wouldn't recommend a netbook for just tuning. Why pay a monthly bill just to use it when you could buy a $50 old school brick of a laptop that'll take a beaten just to tune with. Just my thoughts
