Re: Knock Control (Datamaster Run Inside)

Possibly false, could be a number of things, torque converter noise, exhaust leaks, exhaust touching frame/firewall, worn out ignition, old gas, low octane...

93 octane, fresh gas, new plugs/wires/disty.

I'm pretty sure it is false knock but what would be the best way to relieve myself of this annoying pest?

Re: Knock Control (Datamaster Run Inside)

I'm having the same problem, I get up to 10-12 * spark retard running 100 octane gas. I suspect it's false knock but I can't isolate it. I tried shoving a piece of rubber hose between my fuel lines and transmission to try to keep my lines from banging into my knock sensor, but that didn't help. I noticed that my IA temps were very high, in the 170* range. I am manually controlling the boost to 14 psi. If I drop it to about 9-10 psi the KR drops to the 3* range, but I should be running like a bat outa hell with 100 octane. I'll keep trying different things and I'll let you know what works.

I'm going to start with replacing the knock sensor, it's a 155,xxx mile truck so I'm sure it might need replacing.

It may just be over-tightened, the torque spec is 14 lb/ft.

Your IAT temp of 170 is your main problem.... shouldn't be above 125 at the end of a WOT run, if the IC system is working correctly.
