Key stuck in ignition

The key was stuck in the ignition today. I started the car and pulled it out of the garage, went to turn it off and it wouldn’t roll back. It’s stuck only able to turn forward to engage the starter. I put it back in the garage, pulled the ecm fuse and disconnected the battery.
When it was on (running), like I said, you could turn the key forward, turn the steering wheel, and shift into any gear. Just couldn’t turn the key back to turn off the car and get the key out. I tried shifting in and out of park. Jiggling in a gears. All I did just before was clean under the front of the engine, front diff, oil pan, trans pan, etc. Then check the lugs on the front wheels, put new o-rings on the wheel caps.
I have the tools to pull the wheel and I do have the random wipes after making turns sometimes. You think the problem is inside the column or should I check the shifter cable at some spot?

I had the same type of issue. The lock cylinder actually went bad on my truck. Put a new one in and that fixed it. You could check that.

Got it out. The cylinder is grimey. I shot some silicone lube in there, played with it back n forth, and it feels better. I need a new one for sure for a long term fix.

edit: Rockauto has two D1414B and D1457C under the Typhoon. I’m guessing D1457C is the correct one since it’s not “coded”?

“A coded lock cylinder has the correct key code inside of the key cylinder that will match your car key and a un coded lock cylinder has to be coded to the car key specifically. Most of the new key cylinders can be coded to the original key by a local lock smith in your area.”

Since I’m gonna chuck the keys, yeah 1414 is correct. Learn something new every break. ;)

You remember how you got it out? I’m only finding 94+ how to’s. Is it just that massive silver bolt w the little torx behind the switch stuff and the cylinder slides out?

Not in any rush, it worked perfectly today. Had to order a new cancelling cam though. When I released the horn connector the nub sliced out the retaining part like it was made out of clay.
