Just my luck its my birthday and my truck catches on fire!!!

Well today on the way back to work my truck starts smelling like fuel. I stop right away which was at work pop the hood and BOOM!!!





Got some nice 2nd degree burns from the explosion...

Here is the aftermath....

That is a bummer, do you have any idea about what cause it other than gas? What side of the engine did you see flames 1st?

Dude! That really sucks! Finally get your truck back together and driving.

I don't think I have any parts laying around except for the manifold. But if I come across anything that'll help, I'll let you know.

Holy $#it dude, that sucks. Glad you are relatively ok, and the truck didn't burn to the ground, but that is still horrible.

Did you grab a fire extinguisher from somewhere to put it out?

I agree... But get a good one... ALSO DONT open the hood unless you have someone ready to spray... I lost a lot of my eyebrows and eyelashes. In the first picture I was standing right in front of the truck when it exploded...

I will need the engine wiring harness for sure...Not sure I have $350 for a new one...

George Blake I will need a TV cable...
I know I will be hitting Mike Hood up for some gaskets...
I will also need a throttle cable.

I will throw in the hydroboost and ditch the ABS...

Anyone else got some ideas on what else I will need?

Is a regular s-10 interior harness the same? I think it is...

But I will be taking part donations... LOL

I will also be selling off a lot of the parts I have accumulated... So look for some fire sale posts....

Emptied 4 of them... The fire department put it out the rest of the way...

Driver side...

It looks like the fuel rail bolt broke and the fuel pressure pushed the rail slightly off an injector...

syty cluster is not the same (obviously) i believe it has a diff plug
(you have a boost gauge and a factory tach)

the harness must come from a 5 speed s10 since all the stuff thats bolted to the column that is related to a auto is on the tranny or the floor shifter (i dont have a syty so i am kinda guessing)

the wires for the windows and stuff are the same
the mirror wiring come from a bravada, and possibly the high level blazers and jimmys
not that the above is necessarily damaged but its worth a mention

You're lucky. Here's what I've been working with. I'll post some up-dated pictures tomorrow. Some of the "old-timers" may remember this project as "The Resurrection", started by Jack Wilburn in September, 1999. I purchased it from him in Feb 2000 and towed it back to Los Angeles. This truck should have NEVER been saved. $25,000 and counting. And it's stock.

Always wondered what happened to that truck. Good to see that it was never forgotten about.
