is this a good deal on a ty

So i have always had a liking for the syclone. i wasn't so sure about the typhoons but i just looked at one and i really like them also. so this ty just showed up at a local used car dealership. so i stopped in to look at it yesterday. its in pretty fair shape. no big dents and the paint is in good shape.. interior is all there but some spots are rough but not to bad. under the hood it looks mostly stock with just a filter and MSD and couple painted parts. well after talking to the dealership they said the montana title comes back clear. but they carfaxed it and it came back with a rebuilt title and that the odometer has a discrepancy. it has 78000 on the clock. but looking under the truck there is oil all over the underside of the motor and front diff. they are wanting $7500 for it. its the dark green with silver cladding. according to them its #33. it has good rubber with the factory wheel. im just wondering if its a fair price. i know these things hold value like no other. but i wasnt sure with a rebuilt title. there was no rust from what i could see and i looked under it on all 4 corners. thanks for any info.

I would research the mileage discrepancy and oil leaks before you make an offer. That would be a steal if it's clean and it realy had only 78k

I believe they're mistaken about it being Typhoon number 0033. I have photos of '93 0033 and its black and 0033 would be too low of a VIN for it to be a green grey '92.

yeah i might look into it. im just not sure it miles are true. with how it looked under the truck. also the cladding on the front passenger fender didn't fit so well. it seemed to have some of the mounting tabs on the cladding broke off. it just had big gaps like it wanted to fall off. other than that all the cladding was there.

I thought you were of the Silverado SS site with that screen name. Always loved your SS. I still want a blue, but I don't want car loans! Maybe next year. Welcome to the Syty Forum!

I'm guessing you know but they only made the Sy's in black. I've seen a couple blues floating around the forum though and they look good:tup: Black grew on me though after owning a Syclone.

And theres mixed feelings about sequence #'s, but most people don't care. Syclone 0001 was up for sale a bit ago and was somewhat beat and I don't remember for sure, but I don't think it sold for more than 10K.

I know a bit about that truck.

It was owned by a couple from the Whitefish Montana area.

If memory serves they rescued it from someone who had started a "custom" paint job. I remeber him saying that the body line was partially filled with bondo when he got it.

I remeber it bieng a fairly clean truck when I saw it last, that was at least 8-10 years ago mind you.

oh ok thanks for the info. there is a lot of things about the ty that makes me think it was wrecked once. just how the cladding doesn't fit right and the paint does look fresh. like within the last 10 years it was repainted. plus the rebuilt title kinda scares me. i just got a hold of a good friend of mine and he owns a sy. he looked at it and said it seems to be a ok deal. but he did say he'd sell me his sy if i really wanted it. :D

heres a few pics. its all stock with just over 100k on it. it was well taken care of and is super clean.

If you seem to think something isn't right with the truck walk away. Many people including me have bought one and killed it right after purchasing them. They are tedious trucks if you start carelessly modding them. You friends with 100K sounds like the better deal. It seems to be the ones that were never modified or rebuild are pretty reliable.

yeah and i'm sitting here talking it over with the wife. she's not on board with buying one with a rebuilt title. she would rather have something with a clean title. not that a rebuilt title isn't worth money. its just hard putting money on something with title problems.
