Investment or drive it

Hi all,
I'm new to the Typhoon but not the hobby, I also have a 2012 Challenger SRT8 and I owned a 2004 Corvette Z06 in the past.

I just bought my 1993 Typhoon with 10,900 miles on it from the 2017 Mecum Harrisburg auction, my question is this: the truck is all original even the tires, filters and fluids, should I park it and let it gain in value or change all the fluids, filters, tires and drive it a bit to local shows while still keeping the mileage low? How much will this change the value?

Part2-If I change all fluids and tires, what are you all running for tires? Is it overkill to change the oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, brake fluid, diff fluid and seal, transaxle fluid, coolant in radiator and intercooler, power steering fluid, did I miss any fluids or filters I should change? Appreciate any input and look forward to contributing to this forum.

I would change the fluids and drive it locally. If in 5 years the truck has another 1000 to 2000 miles, I doubt it will have any real affect on the value. I would get another set of rims and mount the tire on the 2nd set keeping the originals

You don't have to treat it like a Marboro Sy, or PPG, but dont thrash it or daily drive it in that salty east coast crap either. I'm the original owner with 60k on the clock and do need to put more miles on it (summer driving only here), but I like the fact that it looks great after all those years (at least the truck still looks good. Me......maybe not).

Don't trailer or garage queen it....drive it often...when it's nice....i haven't driven mine more than 10 times in the past two years now since it was all loved up and painted....[emoji54]

Drive it!!!!! Enjoy it!!!!! Both of mine are daily drivers. Take care of them and they will give endless enjoyment......most of the time.

I bought my Sy under somewhat similar conditions..... 70,000 original miles, but had gone through a frame-off resto 600 miles earlier (but, almost 10 years).

I would definitely have the brake fluid completely purged and changed. I also took mine to a GM dealership and had them put it on the radiator flush machine for about 1/2 hour... it's amazing how much icky crud builds up when they just sit. Other than that, an oil change with a good filter, and a fuel filter change should do it.

I would probably also take the advice of putting another set of rims and tires on it - keeping the pristine ones pristine.

I only drive mine about 100 miles a year but have a big smile on my face each and every mile

Well I appreciate the purchase price immensely!

Finally starting to see the asking/selling prices of these trucks go up, and it's about friggin time!

I'm still completely lost on how the GN has a higher retail value than the SyTy's when you consider sticker price and vastly lower production numbers.

NADA has high retail at 42k for an 87 GN, and 23k for a high retail on a 93 Typhoon, 22k for a 92 Ty, and 31k for a Syclone???

I'm not trying to go down the rabbit hole of perceived values vs reality... Just saying that on paper we should at least be on par with the GN or even a lil higher for the rare factor, no?

I know something is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it... but even if I didn't have a Typhoon, I certainly wouldn't pay more for a GN than a SyTy. A 20k gap seems a bit ridiculous, right???

Then there's Edmunds perceived value of our lovely trucks :rotf:
