I know, I know, I don't own a sy or ty but I was looking at buying one from a guy with a trade on my blown ss but the deal fell through. I had signed up here so I could ask for some advise but anyway. I thought I'd post some pics of my supercharged SS since I went to the trouble. Hope you fellas don't mind. I do have an alky kit though like some of you so we share some things in common plus boost. Here are some pics.

Thats pretty cool.. I love the looks of those particular CPI intakes. How much boost can you run before you run out of fuel? Its my understanding that you can't really upgrade the injector/nozzles in there??

Yeah the cpi injector pretty much sucks, you're right, no upgrading the injector. That's why I went with the alky kit. It's picks me up at 2psi where I start to run lean and eliminates that. I'm running 8, close to 9 psi now. That alky kit really did wonders and you sy/ty guys should really go for it if you haven't or if you're on the fence. Looking to get a smaller altenator pully this year and push it up to 10-12. That's about all the blower will be able to handle at those rpm's which should be around 32k. I've rebuilt the motor but that was done before the addition of the blower so I really don't have the best internal setup for boost. I have another complete stock cpi in the garage I plan to rebuild later on to handle a little more pressure. Tranny is rebuilt, vette servo, 2400 stall, shift kit, v8 boost valve, springs etc. Rear end is slp limited slip out of a camero ss, 3.73 gear and some bars. Nitto drag radials on the rear too.
It's a pretty fun little truck.

A SyTy without alky is like a baby without a rattle! :tup: My Sy loves alky. BTW, I like your truck, its different. Thanks for sharing those pics with us.

Yeah welcome to the board. Very clean and understated truck. I would never expect that thing to be as quick as it most likely is.

I plan to hit the 1/8 mile tonight so I'll post some times later. Weather is clear but hot and humid in S.C. I havn't been since the dyno tune and rear end upgrades. Dynoed 300 to the crank and 330 torque. We'll see what she does.

No, I'll probably go to the outlaw track out towards Gaffney called Shadyside. There's another one down my way in Union as well but I haven't been there yet. They are both about 45min west of me. I'm in York SC. I wish we had a 1/4 mile track other than Lowe's around. I hear they require helmets if you run under 14 seconds.

Wow- nice looking truck. Very clean, nice wheels, diggin the white. Definitely justifies the SS emblems.

I had a 95 black SS with headers, PI convertor, pullies, JET chipped, roller rocker and few other little things. I loved that truck. I had real bad wheel hop, even when I was running BFG drag radials. What did you do to the rear to keep those tires from jumping?

Great truck you got there:tup:. I am kinda jealous. I always wanted to go the blower route, but never had the :2cents: at 19.

I put a 3rd shock on my '00 2wd truck to keep the wheelhop down. It was a factory option on MOST '98+ 2wd V6/5spd trucks. Works like an absolute champ!

Thanks guys for the positive feedback. I may have to start coming here more rather than the s10forum.
The 94, 95, and possibly 96 ss didn't come with that 3rd hop shock unfortunately. I had to put some Lakewood bars on it. It'll still spin but the wheel hop is gone. Hope to replace with cal-tracs or competition engineering slide-a-links with a little lower drop soon. Traction bars seem so......80's???:lol:

What do those stock syclones run the 1/8 in? I have a cop buddy that used to own one and his was only running 9.1-9.3 at 72. And we're not high altitude either. Is that a little sluggish for a stock, or moderately modified sy? He had a chip too.

Reading alot of the threads and looking in the classified since I've joined this forum has really made me start to itch for a typhoon. I bought a 03 s-10 crew to haul my baby girl around in but I'm thinking she'd enjoy, or rather watch dad here enjoy riding around in one of them instead.

One that is running god should run anywhere from 8.20 - 8.50 with the basic tune up and reliability mods. I believe it says on Powertuneplus.com:

Syclones:
1/4 mile- 13.00-13.40 or roughly 8.20 - 8.45 in the 1/8

Typhoons: 13.40- 13.70 or roughly 8.45- 8.70 in the 1/8

your buddys truck def. had issues if he was just in the 9's

Nice truck! My SS is still my fastest truck that I own.

Caltracs worked well for my application ( 1.69 sixty foot with et streets) dead hook, no hop.

I can't post in the classifieds yet but I've decided to try and sell my little white truck or trade for a ty if anyone is interested or know of anyone else who may be. Asking price is now is $7,200 but that is somewhat negotiable. I'd love to have a ty!
