Re: Interest Thread: SM replacement Lower Intercooler

Our master list shows that. Sorry I need to add some folks and update that list on page one.

My ass. Look at it.
Re: Interest Thread: SM replacement Lower Intercooler

I'd be willing to pay another $400 to cover a couple other deposits which would also cover the total+ for mine. That would make it an even 20 applicants. Would that be enough to submit the order and get them made?

If so, I can PP the money on Tuesday of next week, 2/4/14. Also, if I do that, I would like to have a practical ETA for them.

Re: Interest Thread: SM replacement Lower Intercooler

Beard, thank you for stepping up and being so willing to do so to get this done.

The fact of the matter is we were able to lower the price to where it is now based on a minimum order of 25 units. Seeing as we had close to 30 people interested, I figured with late arrivals, or even having a couple extras we would be all good. That was not the case and between deposits slowly rolling in and how busy we have been, things got delayed. Regardless, we have ponied up the rest of the funds so we can go full production. I'm waiting on a timeline and expected completion date from AFCO. As soon as I have that we will be sharing that info to keep you all in the loop.

Jaime, I just didn't mark it on this thread, sorry, but we have you in our master list as paid, you are all set. Thanks

What is the price on one of these? I could be in for one as well. Also interested in when they will be ready to ship

$410 GP price. Further details are on page 1 of the GP. Need to know immediately as we are in production now. Expect completion in 5-6 weeks. I"ll be posting a more detailed schedule as I have more info. Thanks

QUICK UPDATE:

We are in full production on these. Estimated time to completion is 4-6 weeks. And its only that long because opted to laser cut the side flaps and mounting holes for a more consistent and cleaner finish.

The other item that we have adjusted, the electric fan option. After much consideration and redesigns, and interest, we have decided to only offer the single fan option. The dual would need too many other changes to make it work perfectly with marginal benefit. All of the IC will have provisions for a fan single fan mount and it can be added on at any time or run without.

We will be updating the progress as things come together. Thank you!!

Code what?
Are these completed yet? Any extra being made? I'm looking for before and after temp comparison before I decide. I want to add a water temp gauge in the upper IC, compare my temps with stock vs new afco. I'd like to see how well it does for preventing heat soak. Wrapping or coating the stock ic would be my next step depending on results from stock to afco

Re: Interest Thread: SM replacement Lower Intercooler

We are having a couple extras made to have in stock. They will be availble, but at the retail, non GP price, since that wouldn't be fair to the folks that did participate in the GP.

As for temp comparison. The engineering calculation is that it will be 30-40% more efficient than the stock intercooler. That was done by AFCO's engineers early on in the development and prototyping phase. In preventing heat soak, the bottom line is that it can more quickly and more efficiently disipate heat, there by helping to maintain and manage lower MAT temps. . Bigger core, more cooling cross section and it being dual pass will logically make it better and keeping the intake temps down. Real world numbers will have a variety of factors, but in our prelim testing, the speed at which it drops MAT temps, from standing to driving and keeps them down is pretty astounding. And the production version has even more features that should make it even better.

We should have a more firm completion date soon. As we have more info, we will be posting it. Thanks

A little update. We decided to do a final pre production prototype just as a final check to make sure everything fits nice and works like it's supposed to, and look at the fan design so we are fitting it up on a stock truck and wanted to share some pics.

Couple very small adjustments and we are in full production. Should only be a couple weeks til they are all complete.
