Interest in Boston Area Meets

Last year we had a pretty sucessful NED meet (atleast IMO) I had mentioned last year about setting up a couple meets (one drag strip, one show or dinner). So I have been a little slow out of the blocks this year, but I am getting excited about my truck again (Stupid COrvette been taking all my time). I am open to suggestions and Opinions.

Some people have mention to me in private interest of going to NED. I am always up for the dragstrip We could do another Friday night meet like last year or maybe we could the truck Nationals on Sept 25 http://www.newenglanddragway.com/schedule/eventdetail/trucks.shtml#TRUCK RACING CLASSES (I know this conflicts with the englishtown swap meet, but most boston area folks won't be driving 5-6 hours each ways for a swap meet.)

I am interested in doing a Lebanon Valley Track (Just over the NY Border) rental that PJ does, but I think the cost scares away all but the most avid racers away ($75-100) but tons of runs. I would like to do something like that once it gets cool out. Its about 2.5 hours from boston and I hear they prep the track much better than NED (but that isn't saying much)

I realized not everyone is into racing or is afraid to break their Truck. I have been thinking about either meets up at some cool place for dinner on the weekends or going to a car show. Given August's hot weather, this coming month would be a good time to for this. I am a little lost on venues and what would be appropriate. My local car show has cruise in on Sat nights, but they really cater to cars over 25 years old. I have been looking for idea and keeping my eyes and ear open for ideas.

I'd be interested in a boston area meet, or even a couple. NED would be nice once it is cool out or like you said we could meet for dinner (we could do HOOTERS in R.I. ) or whereever. Car shows would be good also there are a couple around here near e on various nights.

I'd be up for an NED meet on a Saturday in Sept. Im about 1 hour away from NED, and we have a pretty good local car show 100+ cars (old rods to a new NSX) on Friday night as well. If anyone from the NJ/NY/other region wants to come up and needs a place to crash I've got extra rooms, beds, and a couch you can claim.

I'm in for anymost anything. I think my Ty is going to try to make its maiden voyage to NED august 19th, a bunch of people from my work and our customers are all coming up and I should have the fastest vehicle of the bunch.
Keep me posted and give me a ring dave if you need any help planning things,

There's a Hooters in Manchester, CT now. Would be good for a central place in between NYC and Boston. Just a thought...

I would like to have a meet more northward (especially if isn't dragstrip type meet). Not that their is anything wrong with CT, but most of the daytime NASTE meets are long drive for Boston Area members, 2-3 hours each away and their is already two spring meets in that area.

True. Even an hour drive sucks when you are doing 12mpg!

I talked to Dan (tygraine) and he mentioned about being very interested in Aug 19th as well. (You probably already knew this) I will go on August 19th. I want make a few run at NED to get see how my Sy is doing, before I think about going to a fall Lebannon Valley track rental, so this would be perfect (that and my wife is away on a business trip)

I am always up for a meeting that has anything to do with a dragway or beer. I am out for August 19th or September 23,24,25 though. Any other dates in mind?

I won't be able to make the 19th either as I am getting married that day. Any of the other dates are fine though.

Dave, I think I'm also going to be going up the 12th, friday night to get a few runs in before the 19th when a bunch of my friends and people from work will be there. I just finished installing my battery box, battery cut off switch and doing a bunch of other small things to the truck, MT drag radials are on, my buddy is coming to pick up the Ty in his enclosed trailor and we are going up. We will see how it goes,

I will be their with my Sy. Some people just keeping coming back, we all know that you want another one.

I will mostly likely be with Jasmine, my 14 year old 'foster' child. She will probably be trying to figure out where all the Hummers & Escalades on 22's are
